About this ebook

The author of this book has a lifelong experience in the church . The corruption & hypocrisy he has seen & heard of contradicts the Bible teachings in many ways . This book exposes some of the deeds , sayings & thoughts that the author came across . Some of the episodes expressed in this book will make many believers wonder about their relationships with the church & the clergy . It is not meant to deter people from the church , on the contrary it is meant to deter the clergy from abusing the church for their own ends . All of us are partly responsible for what is going on because we put our blind trust in the clergy without any questioning.

Decadence , hypocrisy , corruption & sexual immorality is rife and in many instances it goes on unnoticed . No one expects the Clergy to be like the Apostles who met their ends in horrible ways to promote Christian teachings to the world , but we expect the clergy to hold the Apostles as their role model & to be exemplary to the laity in their way of life , christian teachings & values . It is time for someone to expose the bitter truth so that Christianity , the Church & the Clergy gain the higher ethical ground that Christ has sacrificed his life for.

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

    PREFACE

To give credibility to my thoughts, feelings and comments about the various issues raised in this book, I decided to give the reader a glimpse into my background and upbringing.

I was born in an ordinary Christian family, being the youngest amongst my two brothers and three sisters. My father was a devout Christian, more so than my mother, in the sense that my father was always ready to forgive and forget yet my mother once hurt could never forgive.

Throughout my life for fifty years with my parents, I never ever heard my father cursing or swearing. If anyone hurt him he would say, may God forgive you. Christianity and Christian teachings were practiced in our family all the time

My two brothers were ordained deacons and my three sisters were part of the choir. We attended church regularly and all the family practiced Christianity as the bible dictates. On three occasions I came home to find a stranger being given overnight shelter by my father because they had nowhere to stay the night, one was a Christian man, another was a Muslim man and the third was a Muslim woman. When I grumbled about the strangers being given shelter in our home my father reminded me of the parable of the good Samaritan to shut me up. I remember once my father was very ill and the church council came to collect money for the poor. My mother said we only have five dinars and my father said give it to them, God will help me get better and I will earn more.

As one can see this Christian atmosphere was imbibed in me to the core until I went to University when I studied Karl Marx, Communism and religion is said to be opium of the people, Charles Darwin’s evolution, natural selection and survival of the fittest, Astronomy, the big bang theory and how the universe started and continues to develop. The combination of all of this had its impact on me and I became an undeclared atheist. For five years I did not enter a church and my excuse to my parents was that I had to catch up with my studies. I knew that if I declared my true reasons to my parents it would be a devastating blow as I was their favoured child and was always very close to the church, more so than my two brothers.

At university I started studying mechanical engineering then changed to medicine. The more I read in medicine and the complexity of the human being the more I started questioning whether there was a superpower which controls the world. Though I believe in evolution I wonder whether evolution itself is controlled by another power. I eventually decided to read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation with a scrutinising mind. I came to the conclusion that Christ’s teachings are absolutely utopian and cannot be faltered. Irrespective of whether Christ is God or just a Great Teacher; if people follow His teachings, then we will have Heaven on Earth.
