Spirits Realm: An Overture

The spirit realm is just like a fantasy world, as spirits are invisible to the eyes and impossible to prove their existence. The only guide we have is from religious scriptures. The acceptance is very much dependent on the strength of faith of the one who’s seeking them. Experiences are often rebuked or circumvented, and that is how we lose the opportunity to understand the unseen’s existence. When belief and science collide, we struggle and start taking sides based on the only knowledge we have at the time and life goes on as if nothing else matters. Age is a factor that reminds us that we are mortal and will inevitably cease to be one day. Only then do we realize that we have a double life to lead, which is the physical and the spiritual life. That is when we appreciate that we do have a spiritual life that we should take care of. To unravel the mystery of the spirit world is not an easy task; it requires serious dedication and a lot of passion to eliminate baseless hearsay. Understanding and appreciation of the spiritual world and their activities are delicate, and only the strength of faith can bestow these upon us.

If we do not see it, why bother? That was my attitude before the age of forty with regards to spirits. Although serving in Oil & Gas services company for many years in various countries and mostly in remote locations, where I had to learned and adapt to the local life and culture of the location and even folklore. Countries like Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, Taiwan, Libya, Saudi Arabia and Europe. All these experience does not help to trigger my interest with regards to the Spirits and the Spirit world.

When I was a kid, I have heard so much stories about ghost, Devil, and Demon enough to give me goose bumps and nightmares until I was so afraid of dark places. Something happened when I was ten, that changed my fear completely. But that is as far as it goes. After all, I have never seen or encountered spirit disturbance of any kind until I grew my own family. So, how can I believe in spirits when that never happened to me either? May be, if I had some experience before, I would probably have carried out my research much earlier. After the age of forty, my view starting to change to; If I do not see it, does not mean it is not there! In a way, I am so glad not to have seen or encountered any before, for I now realized that, I was not ready to face the reality of the unseen at that time.

What I discovered is that I was not alone in this matter. It seems that there are many ignorant just like me, who is not aware of various spirits roaming around in this world and possibly around us every day. During my search, I found that generally, there are many type, and versions of spirits depending on the culture and believe, and where the story comes from. I do admit at times, I do get confused with conflicting concept of the spirits and the spirit world as explained by various people who seems to know about spirit. At times, I just do not know what to believe anymore.

For example, at the early stage of business not doing well, I remember consulting many people and experts. One on the expertise engaged was a Master in Feng Shui. The master came to my office and carry out his survey on almost every inch of the office. He then told me that the location of my office is not a suitable place to do business. I have two options; either to move office or do major renovation. He explained that my office is on the path of spirits commuting to a nearby temple which is about 100 meters away. When I asked what kind of spirits? His answer was the spirit of ancestors and other spirits. I did ask for clarifications on the other spirits? However, he gave all kind of excuses and declines to explain properly. I got a strange feeling that he himself is not sure or not familiar about these spirits. Until one day, a colleague of mine came and told me that he and his family has been a victim of black magic, then only it stirred my interest to know what really happened and why? That was my turning point and the direction of search on the spirit world.

My findings may be biased towards scientific or open or logical concept of the spirit existence and may not be strictly in line with religious preference. So, please bear with me.

This book is meant to give a little bit of insight and humble guide about the spirit world around us and how we can deal with it. It is a bit like scooping the surface, but we try to stay above it as much. For a Muslim, I believe they understand the obligation of five times prayer a day of 3, 4, 2, 4, and 4 Raka’at and to comprehend the Qur’an content and intent yourself so that you can make your own interpretation for your own personal guidance. Chapter Al-Baqarah 002:003 which is in the early part of Qur’an stated clearly that as a Muslim, it is in their Faith to believe in the unseen. If you are not a Muslim, you are still welcome to share this knowledge about the spirit world around us mostly from my own research, experience, interviews, and experts logical point of view. You are free to make up your own opinion about the spirit world after reading this book. After all it is invisible to our eyes! Should anyone felt offended reading this book, I do extend my apology as that is not my intention at all in any way perceived. What I wrote in this book is based initially from my own personal experience combine with what I gathered from Qur’an and all other research that I have done and observations that I have gone through, throughout of my life. It is not to be taken as absolute as others may experience something else and interpreted it differently. Please read with an open mind and enjoy.

Some Muslim may wonder why I prefer 34244 and not 24434. It is all depending on when a start of a day/date becomes relevant or significant to us? In Gregorian calendar, a new day/date starts at the stroke of midnight. In Muslim calendar, a new day/date starts as the sun goes down and dusk appear or when the Maghrib prayer period starts. In case we do not notice this, it is demonstrated every year on the first and the last day of Ramadhan. The night before the first daylight of Ramadhan, Muslims will start performing ‘Tarawikh’ prayer. On the last day of Ramadhan, immediately after break fasting and performing of Maghrib prayer, every mosque will call out special Eidul-Fitr Adzan and there will be no more Tarawikh prayer to be performed. I am always puzzled to understand why Muslims starts celebrating Eidul-Fitr the next day. The way I look at it, Muslims should start their Eidul-Fitr celebration that night itself! Anyway, this is just my personal view.

It is said that Heaven & Hell existed in planes parallel to our world. How is this possible? All I can say is that, if we are men of science, it is possible! Ordinary human eye is unable to see the existence of these other planes or the spirit world. Mere possibility of the existence or reality of these is already mind boggling. What’s left is only personal believe. One thing for sure is that life of a human being is very, very short compare to the age of this earth. Not only short, but we are also fragile. No one lives forever, and every person will eventually decease someday. The irony about this subject is that everyone wants to go to heaven, but the reality is that no one wants to die. Unfortunately, death is an inescapable reality in human life, but where do we really go after we die?

Common knowledge, there is two things that we cannot escape in life; Death & Taxes! Come to think of it, that statement is true only up to the middle part of our lives. We strive, we struggle sometime risking our health and lives just to earn as much and keep paying meager income tax. Later part of our lives it becomes Taxed until death. We usually established higher earnings which calls for higher income tax bracket. We are exposed to less risk to our health and lives. Sure thing, the more we earned the more income tax we must pay. If we also make the right choice of investment, our source of income will never cease and had to keep paying tax until we ceased, I guess! Come to think about this! It becomes Taxes then Death! That is considering we only have physical life. What about our spiritual life? Is there such thing as spiritual life? According to most religion we do have spiritual life that will go on after our physical body expires. What do we need to do with our spiritual life now and later? I guess that is why we have so many religions to guide us.
