Martha Mauch

Martha Mauch and her son Sam live with their family and cats in Illinois. Martha is a high school mathematics teacher. Sam is a middle school student who enjoys drawing, costume-designing, acting, and making movies. The character of Percy is based on their own cat, Reeser. The Mauch family rescued and adopted Reeser from a local animal shelter in 2012. Reeser was only 3 months old upon adoption. Reeser’s uniquely strong tail, which often guides his own very deliberate actions, inspired this book. Reeser is playful, thoughtful, and loving. Even though his tail causes many mishaps, Reeser’s intentions are always good. Reeser is completely devoted to his best friend Sam. As a result, Sam, who is 12 years old, is proud to be the illustrator for this book.
