About this ebook
Based on her personal experiences with IVF, author Monica Bivas created this journal to help you organize the process, handle stress better, and bring focus and clarity to your personal IVF journey. She created The IVF Planner both as an information guide and for you to write your own story. She touches on everything from the basics of the process to financing to a support network and more.
Bivas communicates that the IVF journey, no matter the end result—negative, positive, or even cancelled cycles—takes strength, takes courage, and teaches you to be disciplined. Though expensive and challenging, it’s a journey to be proud of.

PREFACE
The Journey of a Thousand Miles Starts with One Step
In vitro fertilization (IVF) has been a blessing in my life. However, it is also a roller-coaster ride of emotions, and with constant changes in the treatment itself, there is a lot of information to absorb. IVF treatments today are not the same as they were five, three, or even one year ago. Every day there is more and more research on fertility treatments to help those suffering from fertility issues, allowing not only for the greater possibility of getting pregnant but for having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.
With IVF comes many emotions, including a sense of being overwhelmed and confused. My first three cycles were extremely stressful and difficult. My third IVF cycle ended with the stillbirth of my beautiful baby girl at thirty-nine weeks, three days before her expected due date. I did my fourth cycle almost immediately after my stillbirth, and even after having a big fat positive (BFP), I miscarried at seven weeks.
I realized that, in order to handle another round of IVF, I would have to take control of the situation based on what I’d lived through in previous cycles. To me, this meant knowing and accepting my medical situation. (I have double tube blockage caused by endometriosis. Even after a laparoscopy, they remain blocked.) I
