About this ebook

This book makes a statement on current societal attitudes, challenging social norms, and the status quo. It particularly looks at the harsh reality of the life of a mistress. Not to be brushed under the carpet, it’s a bit of an exposé that will intrigue you; it captures the 1960s generation of free love and describes how a woman in modern times can still make choices, particularly in regard to her love life and feel empowered by this. She is no societal puppet, controlled by strings.

    Introduction

Granted, you may think of me as shallow. But at least I have my thoughts to keep me company on the long and cold winter nights, which are approaching fast. I have cool memories and even cooler memories in the distant past. I channel them on a daily basis to give my days greater meaning and depth, if not for clarity and purpose.

So why do I wander with my thoughts that are much of a muchness? These days, I enjoy a more solitary existence with snippets of action. I’ve always tried to live by and maintain the private and public arenas I live in. I have independence to shut my door and yet remain absorbed with my own thoughts. Is this a bad thing? Why not, for this allows one’s mind to be creative.

Another snapshot in time. The cooking and the somewhat mundane tasks of everyday life fall short of what I really aspire to. The cookery leaves me yearning to be a chef or to have the fixtures and fittings that come with housekeeping. And the desire to be a seamstress and make the furniture covers I chose rather nice material for, in anticipation of the room I long to decorate again.

However, I do not live completely in solitude, as I now share my home with one in a long line of dogs, a shih-tzu called Biscuit, who is just one year old. Quite endearing, really, and we seem to get along famously. Biscuit is always there, even when I’m on the toilet. Quite a relishing prospect for you, I’m sure.

I first encountered Mr Romeo Zane when I was seventeen years old, still fairly fresh-faced and about to leave school. He made quite an impression on me at that time. He had the presence of what I can only attribute to having totally masculine rugby features. He came over as being, to coin an old-school phrase, ‘’ard as fuck’. This appealed to me; that, coupled with his amazing good looks. He was blond and slightly tanned. His stature was well proportioned; I would not have described him as fat or overweight. Romeo was the
