    CHAPTER ONE:

    Introduction to Soccer

    Da…da… Massi called as he crawled along the floor to his father. John Dearson crouched so that he was eye level with his child.

    Come to papa Massi. Come on, you can do it.

    Massi was a year and a half but he still didn’t talk very well. He liked to follow his dad everywhere though and do everything his father did. Today his father was going to play soccer with his pals from the neighborhood. Massi clung to him, not wanting to be left behind.

    Aww, you wanna go with papa to play ball huh? John said giving his son a pleased smile. He loved that his son loved to spend time with him.

    John you can’t go with Massi. Who will watch him while you play? Melissa, John’s wife and Massi’s mother called.

    I was thinking you could come with us too. John called back with a cheeky smile.

    Melissa sighed, I’d love to dear, you know that. But who would make dinner if I went?

    Oh don’t worry about dinner. We’ll stop by Alfredo’s Diner and get something to eat on the way home. I think the special is lasagna tonight, John said excitedly. He loved Alfredo’s lasagna.

    Okay then, Melissa said with a smile, I’ll get our things together.

    Tha! Tha! Massi exclaimed throwing his hands up in the air excitedly as he watched his father run on the field passing the ball to his teammates. His mother stood him up on her lap so he could dance around even more excitedly as he watched the game.
