About this ebook

This book is a travel and photography book that the authors husband took the photographs. We traveled extensively and enjoyed our time on the road and also on the sea. We saw most of the USA. The Mediterranean and the Baltic countries. We travel well together but I have been know to have panic attacks in big crowds and when I am afraid my feet may be stepped upon because of my bout with bone cancer my feet are quite sensitive. We tried to do our very best and provide the most outstanding photographs in this book of the regions we traveled. I know if I were offered another trip to all the same places I would be overjoyed to see it all again with a new perspective.

    Jonathan D. Oman’s Biography

Jon has been a photographer since he was a child. A friend of the family purchased a Nikon camera for him while they were in Japan, and Jon used it exclusively for many years. He started winning photo competitions while in college, at Michigan Technological University, Ferris State University, Henry Ford Community College, and Wayne State University. His first win was a Kodak award for an outdoor photo. Then while employed at Ford Motor Company, he received two awards for two outdoor photographs, one of Fort Mackinac and a bird sanctuary in Hawaii. While living in Summerville, he won two awards, one for a photo of a warehouse in Downtown Charleston and another for a photo of a red hawk. His photos were shown at the Artisans Center, Walterboro, South Carolina, where he also sold his photos, and at the Summerville Farmers Market on Saturday mornings.

    Ann Malik Oman’s Biography

Ann has been married to Jon for forty-four years. She is a lover of cats and is always ready to feed a cat on the doorstep/porch. The cats seem to know she is a pushover for them and will often come by twos and threes to their humble home. She also attended college and received a master’s degree in information technology and information science from Wayne State University. Ann has written one book that was translated into Spanish titled Miracles from Prayers: Conversations with God. She is delighted that the book is doing so much good for its readers. Most will say it is a very inspirational book; learning to pray is so important and is God’s desire for us.

    Synopsis

While their parents are away on a trip, the cats will play. They are very aware of our plans to pack and leave for someplace other than home. They also typically do just fine while we are away. When I say away, I am referring to if we go anywhere during the day. Oreo, the younger of the two cats, in particular, is anxious for our return because of his OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) issues; that compels him to lick off his under arm fur and his nether region fur as well. Oreo is always happiest when his whole family is reunited; he will purr loudly and look at Jon and myself hardly believing that we are home and all together again.

Certainly, Bluey will let his younger brother know that we always return and that we will soon be reunited, and he will be happy as a result, also that he should make the best of our time away because when we arrived home, both cats are quick to forgive and reacquaint themselves with us, and we are happy to see their furry faces.

Jon and I have had a variety of cats, each one more lovable than the last. First, there was Chessy, then Moe, my friend’s cat Ms. Nibby, my daughter’s cat Teaser, Bluey who is eleven now, CJ who was a farm cat and passed from congestive heart failure because of all the interbreeding on the farm, and finally Oreo. These days, besides writing, I am trying to domesticate a feral cat in our neighborhood/subdivision. I have started by calling this cat Fudge, Ms. Fudge, or Fudgy because she looks like slabs of fudge. She often hangs around our house, which I find particularly comforting, lounging on our porch waiting until she will be noticed. She is never too far from the feed bag so to speak. Jon even built her a cat house to take shelter in when it should rain in our area. We are hoping that she will be our patio cat. The patio is screened in, so it is a great place for her to hang out. We think it will take six to eight months to tame her down, and to our advantage, she seems lonely too. The plan with this book is to incorporate photos with descriptions of where, when, and how the photos were taken with commentary from the cats laced throughout the descriptions.
