Blessed with Activity: A Mindfulness Journey
()
About this ebook
Blessed with activity. A few times, when responding, I felt some would shy away if I said blessed versus lucky or fortunate. But these were/are my words and how I feel. They are not necessarily meant to be religious in aspect but to be something for which I am most grateful. I am busy all the time and truly never bored. My choice.
After a while of me saying, Blessed with activity, folks said, Im going to use that! It explains my life!
So many people said this to me that I felt Ive got to do something about this. So I did.
Ive got apparel and accessories; Im creating workshops, and now you are reading my book. Please visit www.blessedwithactivity.com for more options. Join my email list.
Demographics for me are widespread. What I did not realize was I missed one: retired seniors. I met a SCORE (senior counselors of retired executives) mentor who said he had so much activity when he was working. When he retired, he noted he didnt know what he had while he was working. Since our initial meeting, hes been thinking about Blessed with Activity!

Foreword
How often do we get caught up in our everyday lives? Running to get the children to school, stopping to get coffee before our 9 AM meeting; then off to this practice, that school function, or another evening meeting. How often do we hear ourselves or others say, if only I had more time to…
? Instead of getting upset about what we are doing shouldn’t we be thankful we have activities to attend or places to go?
I remember the first-time meeting Dr. Noble; she was the Faculty Liaison for Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society of Business at the University of Phoenix, San Diego Campus. I was just going into my second-year residency for my doctorate in Organizational Leadership. I asked her how she was. She replied, "Blessed with Activity! The statement caught me off guard. I was expecting,
fine,
great, or
wonderful but
Blessed with Activity." Not my first comeback.
As I got to know Dr. Kelly, as I affectionately call her, that was her tag line, Blessed with Activity!
Whenever I or someone else asked how she was doing, she always replied, "Blessed with Activity!"
Dr. Kelly had two children in college on opposite sides of the country. She drove to Los Angeles, working with Reboot, helped females transition from the military to civilian life, taught in the evenings at least twice a week, and was involved with countless other activities. Yet, she always had a smile on her face, was positive, and more concerned with helping others than talking about what she was doing or complaining.
There will always be meetings, school functions, sporting events, or something needing our attention. We could look at these activities from the negative side: getting up early for meetings, earlier to get the children to school, staying out late because of school functions or even later with sporting events. Or, we could look at these activities as a blessing: spending time with our families, sharing our talents with our co-workers, cheering on your child’s friend because his or her parents could not make the sporting event.
You’ve heard the saying, when life sends you lemons, make lemonade!
Well, that’s what these passages do; they help you make lemonade! Anyone who feeling overwhelmed from school, parenting, work, or life in general will find comfort and healing through Minnie’s Pearls,
See Obstacles as Opportunities,
Your Turn to do the Dishes,
or even Quilting,
yes, Quilting!
As I read these passages, I realized these were the same golden nuggets she would tell me, as she helped me through my doctoral journey. A time of self-doubt, low self-esteem, and lacking confidence. The writings are more than words on paper; they
