About this ebook

This handbook is written in plain and comprehensible language; it is addressed to everyone and creates a feeling for the reader like a friend who is speaking to him.

Everything you will read are suggestions and views of various philosophers on key issues of life and how to help people live happily in this life. This particular way of thinking comes from the past, when thousands of years ago philosophers saw the need for the spiritual cultivation of man as a sentient being in order to be able to better enjoy life in organized societies.

The handbook consists of three chapters, which are as follows:
In the first chapter, advice is given in order to enable a person to cultivate a good relationship with himself. In the second chapter, advice is given on how to cultivate a good relationship with other people, starting with family, friends, neighbors, and with all those who coexist in the same society. The third chapter familiarizes you with the concepts of life and death so you can better appreciate the value of time and life while, at the same time, relieving yourself of the fear of death.

    PREAMBLE

This handbook is written in plain and comprehensible language; it is addressed to everyone and creates a feeling for the reader as if a friend were speaking to him.

Everything you will read are suggestions and views of various philosophers on key issues of life that will help people live happily in this life. This particular way of thinking comes from the past, when thousands of years ago, philosophers saw the need for the spiritual cultivation of man as a sentient being in order to better enjoy life in organized societies.

Stoic philosophy, on which this handbook was based, remains relevant and necessary more than ever because man needs to find his role and place in organized societies with powerful institutions that were founded long before he came to this world.

However, we need to make a clarification in order to avoid any misunderstanding: the fact that a human being maintains a philosophical attitude, with inner cultivation and calmness, does not mean that he/she must tolerate everything from others without reacting and without taking protective measures or even preventive action. On the contrary, as an active and awakened citizen, he/she must act and do whatever is necessary to protect his/her rights and the individual and collective freedom he/she has found or gained in society. The handbook consists of three chapters, which are as follows:

    • In the first chapter, advice is given in order to enable a person to cultivate a good relationship with himself.

    • In the second chapter, advice is given on how to cultivate a good relationship with other people, starting with family, friends, neighbors, and with all those who coexist in the same society.

    • The third chapter familiarizes you with the concepts of life and death so you can better appreciate the value of time and life while at the same time relieving yourself of the fear of death.

These advice are not accompanied by many analyses and explanations. If you seek for more evidences and arguments, there is a way to get them: apply what you will read in this handbook in real conditions, and the results of your actions will be the best proof. Read the handbook at least three times at different intervals and give yourself time to understand what you read. Do not hurry to apply what you have read, but instead wait until you accept them or discard them. Let time work for you, and you will see that as soon as you read this handbook, change will come by itself. Change may not be immediate; it will take time. You will maybe get some reactions from people who know you and are accustomed to predicting
