About this ebook

Seasons and Senses is a collection of poems written over the course of twenty-five years by Darlene Ewers. Her life experiences and reflections on various aspects of nature can be found in her poetry. Many of her thoughts are based on life experiences growing up on a family-owned Kansas farm with her two younger sisters and about how those events reaffirmed her Christian faith. This is her first work of poetry, although one of her poems was published in the form of a childrens book as The Sea in 2009. It introduces children to their five senses by way of exploring the various aspects of the sea.

    A Brand New Day

Early on a Sunday morn, many years ago,

The sole Redeemer rose from death to greet the glorious day.

No one saw Him come to life, only men divine.

The power was given to Him by God to conquer Satan’s plan.

The young maiden knew God’s will. The Son came through her.

His human father taught Him well, as did His Father, God.

He taught the Temple rulers, wise and fine was He.

They pondered what He said to them and stored it deep inside.

As He walked across the land, many saw His deeds.

They sang His praises endlessly, but harbored evil thoughts.

He healed the sick with godly power, calling forth the dead.

The humble bowed before His feet and kissed His gentle hands.

Spreading robes upon the ground, calling Him the LORD,

Hallelujahs and palms were raised, while traitors planned His death.

Late one night, He sorrowed much, praying for relief.
