    Darryl

Darryl found himself drawn to the hotel where Merry was staying. He went into the restaurant and found himself looking for Merry and Merryl. Surely they would be having their breakfast here? Then a little voice piped up, sending a shock of pleasure through his being.

Can I have some more cookies, mummy?

Such a sweet voice! And it’s my daughter’s voice. Oh baby, you mean the world to me. I’m your daddy. I need you, baby. My life will not be complete without you.

His heart swelled with love. Her voice was sweet music to his soul. It soothed the distress of finding out that he was now sterile, no longer capable of fathering any child. This love child of his was all the more precious to him and her mother was the love of his life, Merry, his soul mate. The depth of his loss had eaten into him throughout the night.

Darryl turned and saw Merryl seated with Merry in the corner, half-hidden by a family at the adjacent table. He went closer and sat two tables away, watching the mother and daughter enjoying their breakfast.
