About this ebook

My book, Ysmaels Poems, is about adult experiences, family, myself, spirituality, fun, death, life, and going for excursions. It is based on my life and how I see the world. Through each of my varied topics, I learned a lot about life each day. I am learning more from my worldexternal and internal. It is a book on Judaism through my poems, Judeo-Spanish, communing with my ancestors, and appreciating a sunny Southern California day. I am very gregarious, intense, and alive with my poems. I wrote about Old Town San Diego, San Diego, Visions clubhouse, Temecula, National City and Chula Vista, and even Balboa Park or the San Diego Zoo. Sometimes I go to House of Pacific Relations (HPR) with the little cottages such as the House of Scotland, Israel, or the House of France.

Un mor ke no tengo ma es despecho.

Amor fasil no hay deke no es kolay.

    Kazamentera Sefaradi es el pasado.

    Bushkar mujer troko mi mazalado.

    Yo so el fijo regalado.

    Me syento yo ijo fitijo.

    Porke mi mazal a trokado.

Agora la Mujer Sefardi no keren kazarsi!

Para ir k on un ombri a los Estados Unidos.

    One Love

To look for a woman luck changes.

    I am the only boy.

Of three and second are daughters without a dowry.

    What will be of me!

I did not have luck though.

    I want my Sephardic maiden.

    But I don’t find her.

    Nor by horoscope.

Why will I find her in the television.

For it is I who adore her.

I feel like a irritated boychik.

    Why did my luck change?

The young ladies don’t want to leave Turkey.

No the granny or the aunt.

Now the Sephardi woman doesn’t want to marry.

To go to the United States with a man.

    I’m very unlucky.

    Sorprezas

    Munchas sorprezas tengo en tino.

    Trokar el mazal del destino.

Kuando puedo vidar el muevo amaneser.

    De un diya treser.

    No ambezo ke fazer.

    Ya no so militer.

    Ke mos prepara el futuro.

    No so si es duro.

    Syempre sorprezas de repente.

Esto no lo teniya en mente.

    Kadal diya es una lucha.

    Dalkavo noches de pretura.

    No se la negrura.

Pasado seya la triztura I la hazinura.

    Kero triunfar en esta vida.

    Agora ke seyga un empesijo.

    Kon Kortijo.

    Las memoryas se eskarinyan.

Komo la muchachika de mis ojos.

    Sin tener puestos los antojos.

Vaya Kapara No kero komer endjinara.

    Ni dishir ainara.

Ke vuelva el mazal a mi vida.

Esto al DIO se lo pida.

Me eskarinyo el savor del ladino.

Komo una fada ke tyene imajinada.

    Surprises

Many surprises I have in mind.

When can we see the new dawn.

    In a third day.

I don’t know what to do.

    I am not military.

What does the future prepare for us.

I don’t know if it is hard.

    Always surprises a suddenly.

    This I had in mind.

    Each day is a struggle.

    Even though nights of darkness.

    I don’t know the blackness.

Long past be the sadness and the sickness.

I want to triumph in this life.

Now let it be a beginning .

    With a courtyard.

    The memories are missed.

Like the girl of my eyes.

    Without putting on contact lenses.

Let it be sin offering I don’t want to eat eggplant.

    Nor say the evil eye.

That good luck come back to my life.

    This I ask GOD.

I miss the flavor of the Ladino.

Like a fairy that is imagined.

All the things that we talk are every day.

Only one word starving to death.

Today by the cell phone we speak in a soft voice.

    Not to slow but fast.

    Parallel

Parallel in time homeless in the streets the never ending story a saga of our lives every day. Like they say one day at a time sweet Jesus help me out of my predicament. Amiss the tents and sleeping bags and squalor things everywhere askew. Shattered dreams a life forsaken. O my God help me get back on my feet again the mysteries of life in the streets. People with pets or service animals. Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender to straight we are all in middle of time that GOD forgot including society. The Homeless are not just drunks or drug addicts not pimps or hookers nor just drug dealers they unfortunate human beings that merit kindness and good will. One of my friends was homeless for 4 years and now because of his training and expertise got a job working on cars. Some homeless live in their cars and live alone in their own misery hiding for shame as transients when will the vicious cycle end. Yesterday I went to skid row with my friend showing me his friends that are still stuck in the hole. I saw women and children and senior citizens as well as disabled people among the masses of homeless the government doesn’t care they live in a neighborhood until they are kicked out through the sheriffs. New development moves in so the homeless must find another place to subsist. For everything they must wait in line for food, shelter and clothes as well as blankets they gave difficulty using the bathroom is locked or has a code they must press if they fool the establishment of restaurants including fast food. Only by Gods infinite mercy do they survive they only have hope to go out until they can get off the streets.
