After he retired and his wife subsequently passed away, John ventured into the world of literature where he ultimately found his purpose. John resides in Essex, England. THE REGATTA
A s Michael’s thirteenth summer drew near, he sat conjugating verbs in French. His desk was close to the window of the classroom and he occasionally looked out. He was aware of the teacher patrolling the classroom and looking at the children’s work. He just wished to be out on the water … He could see it from the schoolroom as it called to him on the last Monday of term; Just a few more days! he said to himself. He did not mind the schoolwork, he liked learning French. However, the regular teacher was away and the stand-in was not as likeable. The man was like a beady-eyed hawk who did not tolerate laziness
