    FOREWORD

I heard someone commenting about the progress of the Blackman in these United States, however, I personally did not agree with the speaker, mainly because, if the speaker had done his home work and research, he would have known that, not much progress has really been made. In these few lines of introduction to this new book, I will attempt to inform, and perhaps alarm some of the readers, that not much progress has been made.

Why would you say this? I am glad you asked this question. I personally intend to do the research myself, and I will tell the truth as I usually do. I am appalled at the notion, that the black man has made that much progress, If we look at the statistics in academia, in terms of college acceptance for the black man, this will blow your mind, although, there has been a few extra black men and women who has been accepted to the college arena, however, there should have been much much more.

First of all, we have to get the black man out of jail and in our prisons before we can start to work on progress for the black man. When a black man goes to jail, most of the time, he or she doesn’t have the money for an attorney, so what happens is, this woman or man has to stay in jail sometimes a whole year, before they are even allowed to go to court. Most of the dominant culture, do not have this problem, if anything, they are released the same day, for the most part, and have a chance to continue to work and support their families.

When the black man or white man goes to prison, the rehabilitation is minimum at best, and then they want to know why the recidivism percentage is so high for the black man, as oppose to the white man. When a black man is released from prison, if he or she doesn’t have a specific plan of positive action to take, it is futile, they will wind up back in prison in less than two years, because of the lack of skills, education and motivation for them.

It is my dream and vision for the black man, that one day, maybe myself and a few other concern blacks, will give these brother’s and sister’s the necessary motivation to strive for something better than drugs and alcohol and other mind altering chemicals, because 80% of the crimes committed in these united states, are committed under the influence of substance abuse, this has already been documented and printed. I will do another research on this very important matter, so I will know what I am writing about as well as talking about.

Some of the brothers and sisters think, as long as I can make the benjamins and drive these fine cars, I have made it. I got news for all of them who may think like this. The only time you will have it made, and only to a certain degree in these united states of America, you better have something upstairs in your head, to enable you to compete with the dominant culture, in terms of positions of importance, quality education experiences, and high self-esteem, and feeling good about oneself, can take a person a long way toward freedom, and all that statement entails.

Stay with me on this trip through this book, and maybe we can all learn something that is most meaningful, in terms of, total freedom. I entreat you to think about what I have said already, and get the ball to rolling in terms of, maybe he is on to something, Think about this, If I did not experience the trip before, I would not be intelligently capable of writing and talking about it, because it is all nothing but the truth. I have written five books, and all of these books have been, non-fiction. I believe this is part of my calling also, besides being a man of GOD (a minister) to inform, enlighten and motivate my black brothers and sisters to the truth. And be willing to stand beside them to help make things better for them. I have been in the prison ministry for about six or seven years now, and I still have a passion to help my brothers and sisters to total freedom.

There may be some when, they begin to read this book, may think, this man is a communist. Trust me, that is not where I’m coming from. Part of what I write, I lived to tell the story by God’s grace and mercy. That is the last thing on my mind. I would have left these united states a long time ago, if I were so incline to even think like a communist. God has blessed me to live seventy three years and counting, and if I were stupid enough be a communist? Why haven’t I tried to marshal other people to believe the way I do? Maybe America is not ready for the truth, but all of my writings are based on the same level, where I am today, writing what I am writing. Sometimes the truth hurts, so if anyone can’t handle the truth, they may not want to read this book, or any of my other five books whenever they get published.

I would rather, an individual tell me the truth, in terms of, trying to help me, as opposed to sugar coating around the truth. This doesn’t help anybody. When you tell the truth, even though it may hurt, at least who ever read your work, will know you were honest and up front with what you had to say. I can respect any man or woman who tells me the truth, even though, I may not want to hear it, I have to respect who ever is telling it like it is. The Lord has blessed me to live to long, for me in my older years to do something stupid like join the communist. Are you kidding me.? There is nothing a communist can do for me, other than stay out of my face. I went to fight for this country, and I experienced a lot of pain when I got home from Japan, during the Korean conflict as they called it. I write my own experience, my own belief’s, and what I have lived to see happened in the greatest country in the world. So anybody have a problem with Rev. Lyons, Sr’s writings, they need to check and see what is their reason for not wanting to hear the truth.

This kind of writing is called, brutally honest, with myself, the history of the U.S. of America, and then, some of my own people (black men) have sold out to self-gain, and have been using the civil rights platform for their vehicle to do what they want to do, and that is, take advantage of their own people. Why do you think the oppressed becomes the oppressor.? People are sick and tired of being sold out, even by their own black race, and it is time somebody addressed this issue, which I will in this book, along with other issues of the black experience.

I hope those of you who may have some feelings of unrest, will settle down and listen to your heart and your innermost feelings of despair, pain and
