    PREFACE

Welcome to FrogScratch. This book is for you—the woman who is tired of kissing frogs, waiting to see if they’re princes in disguise. This book is also for you—the man who is tired of kissing frogettes, waiting to see if they’re princesses in disguise. There is a faster way to determine if that someone you have your eye on is a bona fide blue blood. But since chances are that you’re a female who’s reading this book, much of its content will be addressed to you, the woman in search of a prince.

Why the name FrogScratch? It’s a take on the term chicken scratch, which slaps a label on someone who has bad handwriting; that is, it resembles writing that could have been scratched by a gaggle of chickens.

FrogScratch is simply the analysis of handwriting, legible or not. The person (or nonperson) doing the writing is presumed to be a frog (frogette, if female) until proven to be a prince (or princess) in disguise.

Handwriting analysis, or graphology, is the study of strokes in writing that offers insight into personality. Handwriting analysis lets you peer into one’s emotions, intellect, aspirations, fears, defense mechanisms, vitality, and many other traits just by a glance at his or her handwriting. No two people write exactly alike.

Handwriting is a message from the brain. The brain seeks to express the nature of its character. And since it’s housed in a hard box and is a thinking machine, it’s smart enough to know that it needs an instrument to do its bidding.

Just as it uses vocal cords and synchronized breathing to produce sound, the brain also uses the hand for expression of its thoughts and feelings. Those without hands write with the mouth or foot. Foot writing, once trained in the art of using a pen, gives just as accurate a personality picture as does the hand.

You can know much about that prince wannabe whom you’ve just met. Even if he’s not comfortable with cursive writing—which is preferable—if he prints, it can still reveal much of his personality. He will not be able to hide his character from you, if you understand even the basics of graphology. The more he or she writes or prints, the better, since more strokes will be represented. Ideally, at least half a page of writing is preferable on unlined paper and in ink. Of course, the ideal situation doesn’t always present itself. Do what you can.

A sneak peek at his writing may be able to warn you if his intentions are less than honorable. Of course, the deeper you involve yourself in the art of handwriting analysis, the deeper you can gaze into his eyes and tell if this frog is worthy of your kiss.

What are some of the personality traits your frog’s scratch might reveal? Below are only a few. Much more is to come.

    Will your potential prince

    • remember your birthday?

    • be loyal to you?

    • be diplomatic?

    • be domineering?

    • love to travel?

    • be jealous?

    • have a sense of humor?

    • be dishonest?

Your handsome date hands you a slip of paper on which he’s scribbled his address. He invites you to his lily pad. Should you accept? From your study of handwriting, that blind date doesn’t mean that you’re blind. FrogScratch will help you navigate the waters of the frog pond and help you steer clear of the tadpoles and grumpy old toads.
