Houser Post Office: Mail on the Farm

One day the arts council asked me to read a story at the Chicken and Eggs Festival that would be held in a small town that I lived in. I asked them if I could just write a short story to read to the children instead. So this is how the story of about a mail on a farm started!

I started on the story one night. I thought about how unhappy some of my customers were when they didnt get any mail. Then I thought about how happy my son was when I would read animal stories to him. The combination of the two inspired me to write this story!

I began writing at the age of fifteen years old. I was raised on a small farm in North Alabama. My father raised pigs and cows. I went to work for the Post Office when I was twenty five years old. I married my late Husband at the age of forty years old. I adopted his Son when he was four. My son opened my heart and mind to children’s books. He inspired me to write children’s books. Over the years I have written several short stories, poems and a couple of children stories. I retired from the Post office after thirty two years. Mail on a farm is my first book to have published. It is my dream to have many, many more books to be published.
