Untitled-1.tifThese stories and poems have entertained and befuddled me at times, but often these scribbles have saved my sanity, if not my life. These meanderings both fun, painful and freeing will be in five categories, though some could almost fit anywhere. A mix of my humor and anguish that I often had to force out and at other times couldn’t stop the process. This collection of words ranges from fear to love, from the creative process to nature and Spirituality. These choices come from about a thirty-five year span. From the point of setting down the alcohol and drugs and trudging through years of anxiety and depression.
Watch out for the second chapter. Mud, Molasses and Stained Glass Souls. This chapter shows my struggles to get past my self-centered fears. Don’t linger in that mire, I almost didn’t make it through the illusions. I just want to show that sometimes insanity and stupidity are on the same side of the path. If that crazy chapter is too dark just run to the next one. I don’t need to live in it any more, though I don’t want to forget were I’ve come from. I just hope someone can find something in here to embrace or let go of.
With love
Don Queen
Untitled-1.tifI want to thank my wife Bobbie Jo for being with me these sixteen plus years. I want to acknowledge my sister Paula and stepsister Janelle for being in my life. And all those friends that have continued to be friends even after they came to know me. And thanks to the twelve step programs and all the people in them. May we continue to be there for each other. I want to thank my new yoga family for helping me relax and stand strong as I can in each challenge. Each breath is a miracle. And to all my children, whether you are biological, stepchildren or foster girls, wow, you taught me more than you could know
And a special thanks to Stephanie Pifer-Stone and her husband Rick, my Light Sabers.
Love you all
Don Queen
HONEYSUCKLE
My nose suckled the honeysuckle
My toes tapped the hardened trail
My woes somehow lost their muscle
I’m on down the road wagging my tail ...
40511.pngTHE WALK
I’m going for a walk today
Out past concrete and blacktop
Down through the woods
Between the preened pastures of the links
And trash at the
