About this ebook

It started probably forty years ago, with a lot of headaches that lasted for days. The only way to stop it was to go to the hospital and get an injection to put me sleep. For years I went to hospitals and had all the examinations and tests, but nothing showed up. Another month or so, Id get another attack, and same story all over again: nothing to diagnose. It went on for years. I could not have a drink of beer or any other alcohol, because itd give me a headache. I suffered for a long time, and no one could help me.

Cancer can start almost anywhere in the human body, which is made up of trillions of cells. Normally, human cells grow and divide to form new cells as the body needs them. When cells grow old or become damaged, they die, and new cells take their place.

When cancer develops, however, this orderly process breaks down. As cells become more and more abnormal, old or damaged cells survive when they should die, and new cells form when they are not needed. These extra cells can divide without stopping and may form growths called tumours.

Many cancers form solid tumours, which are masses of tissue. Cancers of the blood,
