About this ebook

This book is about our lifes search, the adventures we engage in as our souls journey to find Self. People are disappointed when an initiation doesnt give them enlightenment, but, some Initiations are greater than others. Dont expect to become Self Realized all at once. Simply open your hearts while searching for your own truth.

I collected and wrote articles about esoteric thought. Ive put these together in this small book in the hopes that it will help others who are climbing the ladder of consciousness.

Sanrami - Sandy Mantel

While teaching religious education I had mystical experiences leading to studies with Ancient Wisdom Schools, joined and became president of the Theosophical Society-Miami-Deerfield Lodge. Freemasonry for Men and Women – Le Droit Humain, opened new venues; I am a Past Master of the Desert Willow and Phoenix Lodges. With open minded people who see the similarities within diverse cultures and religions, I delight in finding comparable rituals to express a point. Searching through the paths in this physical world, I balance the similarities as my soul returns the information to its source, knowing that all is one.

To the Masters of the Wisdom, our elder brothers and teachers who have struggled up the ladder and reached the pinnacle, for continuing to help mankind; thank you.

    FOREWORD

Looking closely and with an open mind I began to realize that all of the fantasy stories, allegories, myths and even the accounts from our religious books are explanations of who I am and how my own soul is liberated and must become, and that each of the legends I read are a path towards my becoming.

An allegory is a story, poem or a picture and besides its literal meaning may have multiple layers. A legend, from the Latin, Legenda, means things to be read. These stories may have taken place in our human history and may include miracles. Myths, from the Greek, mythos means, word of mouth. A myth is a sacred story about how the world or creation came to be.

I enjoy interpreting the stories I read which help mankind in their enlightenment and self-realization.

    INTRODUCTION

Congratulations you have taken a very big step into Enlightenment. It is through the studies of the Ancient Wisdom that the paths to enlightenment are found and, just as there are many different philosophies and religions there are many paths. Enlightenment is found through spirituality and the mystical which exists in all. It takes meditation and purity of thought to realize that all is from the same source. If your choice is to study through a deep belief and discipline of religion then that is your path. Unless you are unhappy with the religion of your birth, stay with it, it is your Path. A person could leave his religion of birth yet many years later after much study begin to see that what s/he learned in the Ancient Wisdom was right there in the Rites of his own birth religion.

The path to enlightenment is steep, long and arduous. Some people choose to walk straight up the trail, others sashay along stopping every once in a while to check out another footpath, conduit or corridor. They cavort and frolic along that new path and sometimes become stuck in new passageways and alleyways. Some people spend lifetimes caught in the illusion of its charms. Accept that others have a different world view, a different culture, skin color, ethnic background, religion, philosophy or language, and that is their path. The way to Enlightenment is long but, once aware of the path you will hunger and search for more, finding the hidden story in all of life’s adventures.

You are now on your own path and with much work and searching to understand and accept you own true self; you will rise above to control your animal and emotional nature to ultimately become the true Master of your Soul.

Many years ago someone asked me what I was searching for; what was my passion? It took time, but I began to see that for me the search through the many paths and then finding the similarities in all of them was my passion.

Our life is an adventure and we are each engaged in this great journey of discovery about our own self. Through simply living life and the awareness of life we eventually begin to discern its purpose and our own place within the structure of the universe. Finally we find that our life is the path and that everyone and everything all come from One Source and that we all return to that One Source.

I have studied through a number of esoteric modalities, Freemasonry for Men & Women - (LeDroit, the Humain-American Federation), the Theosophical Society, Builders of the Adytum, Self-Realization, the Merkaba Meditation, Heart Awakening, and Gurdjieff. In case you are wondering when and where to start, there is an axiom,

When the student is ready the Teacher appears

Through my studies I’ve found that we have a purposeful universe that human existence has a deep meaning and that we will eventually raise our consciousness above the levels of mere animal life to global consciousness. Be careful about those who tell you they are enlightened. Watch out. Those who say don’t know, and those who do know don’t say!

Yes, we have grown through the Mineral, Vegetable, Animal and Human Consciousness, but, there is no end. Consciousness continues on into infinity, and even then it is as though there is a dimmer switch.

Many people join groups and expect that after a few hours of some Initiation they will become enlightened. These people become disappointed in a very short time. Know that some Initiations are greater than others.

All that we do is a learning process. We must continue to live and to learn and realize that there really isn’t any end to enlightenment. There are simply varying degrees of it.

"Real knowledge is to know the

    Extent of one’s ignorance"

    HOME

    A Well-known Hasidic story

A wealthy businessman was passing through the town of the great Chassidic master, Rabbi Dov Ber of Mezritch, during a business trip. He paid the Rebbe a visit but he could not withhold his emotions upon witnessing his immense poverty. How can you live like this, in such poor conditions he asked the Rebbe.? The Rebbe replied cleverly: What about you? How can you travel like this? I don’t see any of your furniture! The visitor responded: Rebbe, I don’t bring my possessions along with me when I travel. But at home, I at least live like an honorable man!"

You’re absolutely right, said Rabbi Dov Ber. In my home, in heaven, it is a different matter altogether. But here, in this world, I’m just travelling.

    THE PROCESS

The process of becoming an Initiate is always the same and well-known fables and biblical stories incorporate a commonality of baptism, of fire, of three days death of the ego or old self leading to a higher life. Whether these are just stories, or if the character actually lived, the story teaches a lesson.

The Eastern Path is that of Renunciation. In Sanskrit Maha means great, Atma means soul. An Adept or a Great Soul or Master of Wisdom, Ascended Master, or Mahatma, is a person who has reached the pinnacle of the mountain and gone beyond the Four Kingdoms into the Fifth Kingdom of Nature. In Buddhism the change of seasons means the crossing from illusion and ignorance to that of enlightenment and the death of ignorance.

Kabbalah, the Western Path, teaches that all happens within the four worlds: Thought, Creation, Formation and the Material world. The Western
