Mummy, I Know, I Feel, I Love …
Dr. Mariyam Shakeela (2011)
I am not quite like others and it’s hard for you to understand
Why I am not the dream child that you and Daddy planned
I did not choose to be born like this
If I could, I would not be like this
But my world makes no sense and is scattered
I feel frustrated and I get scared
I try hard to be what you want me to be
But Mummy, my brain works differently, you see
When I spell backward and repeat over and over again
When I lose control and it gets under your skin
When I don’t do
