This book, entitled You Can Make It with the Help of God, Youve Got to Make It, is inspired from growing up in Savannah as a child. The many ordeals that I encountered strengthened my faith in God and brought me to the realization that I could make it through anything with the help of God. I learned from childhood to adulthood that there was nothing too hard for God. From sickness to unemployment and the loss of my parents and husband, these made me shed many tears to find that life was not easy, but knowing that God was with me to provide and protect me all the way to my senior years is amazing. When I moved to New York at nineteen years old and tried to make a living in a small apartment on Jefferson Avenue, I knew things had to change to make a better life for myself. Then at twenty-four years old, I met the man who would be a help to me in my attempt to become who God intended for me to become. At twenty-six years old, I married the man of my dreams, who became a great provider and cared for his children. I am a living witness that God can and will make a way for you when you trust him and know you can make it.

Foreword

This book has scriptural verses that will help you to live a better life and learn more about God. The original short stories and poems are to encourage people from all walks of life to have a closer relationship with God. Once you read You Can make It with the Help of God You’ve Got to Make it, you should be able to know more about the Lord and the life you are living that will take you to the next level. Always remember without faith it is impossible to please God according to Hebrews 11:6.

My parents always told me I could make it with the help of God. Whatever you go through take God’s words of promise with you and keep them in your heart.

At the age of 10 years old, I got very sick with a cold called the whooping cough. My tonsil started to swell up and I had a very high fever. My parents called the doctor. He told them to rush me to the hospital. When I got there the doctor started working on me to try to give me relief. My father was a praying godly man, who really loved God and they loved me to. When they began to pray again in the hospital I knew I would soon be healed and get well. They kept repeating to me, You can make it with the help of God because prayer changes things and will answer our prayers so you will get better. So you can go back to school. I remained in the hospital 4 days. I went home telling my sister, You can make it because I did." I always remember that God can make a way out of no way, no matter what you or anybody goes through. If you know someone who has any kind of problem or situation, drunkenness, sickness, jobless or homeless please tell them they can make it in this life if they believe in God and pray and never give up. There are still people in this world who care for them and there is help. So step out of your comfort zone and think, and tell yourself, I am somebody and if nobody loves me, God does and He has no respect of person. Jesus died on the cross for you and me, so we all can be the very best we can be.

Now that I am 72 and I have been in the ministry for God for 45 years preaching and telling young girls if you can get pregnant or have done anything wrong or feel shame of things, dry your eyes and don’t cry, God will forgive you. Just pray and ask God to bless and keep you, tell Him you are sorry for all your mistakes and He will forgive you. We all have made many mistakes and have gone through many heartaches and pains. God’s grace and mercy will enable us to make it. You will survive and God will give you the strength to make it. No matter if you are old or young, rich or poor, Presidents, show business, preachers, teachers, doctors or anybody; God is great and big enough

God can make all things new again and forgive you over and over again. God says to forgive seven times seventy (7 x 70), so you can do all things with God’s help without thinking there is no hope for you. I am a minister and I tell people it is never too late to start again. You are not alone? God is always standing right by your side.

2 years ago I came down with a sickness called Gout. That was so painful I could not walk well or sleep at night. But I always tell myself as I pray I will get well and I will make it. It took 3 years, but now I am better and I thank God.

My friends don’t let sickness of any kind, loss of jobs, school problems, marriage situations, bullying from people, best friends talking about you stop you from praising God. You are a winner and a survivor. Be of good courage and be strong. Keep your head up high. You will not be someone’s victim, but you will be victorious. Tell people greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world. I will make it. I would let nothing hurt me or cause me to be afraid. I will hold on to God’s unchanging hands. God will empower me to climb any mountain because the best is yet to come. But remember no one’s perfect or can live on this earth without any disappointment. Sometimes sorrows, hurts, or have had some kind of unkind words spoken to them. But remember to love your brothers and sisters of this world as God loves you and always do your best. Give your best and the Lord will make good things come your way.

In our day and time there are celebrities that made it with the help of God. For example, Oprah Winfrey: the highest paid African-American talk show host; Gabriel (Gabby) Douglas: the African-American Olympic gymnast and many others.

When you supply the faith you can make it with the help of God you have got to make it.

Prayer For Daily Living

Dear Father who art in Heaven, help us not to gossip or bully one another. Please help us not to feel that we are better than one another because we have a little more. Dear God, help us to remember that you love us all the same and you alone are the creator of the heaven and earth. We were all created in your likeness and your image.

Let us not have hatred and pride. Help us love each other as you love us. Let peace and love win over all hate and evil in this world. Let us build someone up today, instead of causing hurt and confusion. Create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit in us. Dear God, let everyone remember that you said, Blessed are the peacemaker; for they shall be called the children of God.

AMEN

God Knows you. He created and He knows you before the foundation of the World. He knows how many strands of hair you have on your head and He knows your name. God is all knowing, all seeing and is aware of everything you are doing right now in your life. He knows your ups and downs and what you are thinking about every day. Remember God really loves you and you are His child. Whatever you believe remember Jesus wants the very best for you and He will forgive you for all of your sins. He died for you and me.
