    Preface

God’s Glory Divine Devotions, True Devotions for New Beginnings is filled with devotions to help you, my sisters and brothers, as you enter into God’s kingdom. It is a ninety-day journey that will lead you into the new hope of your new beginnings as you grow day by day.

We all have daily struggles. These devotions are designed to strengthen you as God leads you to read every day, helping you one day at a time.

Every day, as I grew in Jesus, I wrote a devotion. Everything God gave me He wanted me to give back. For I have given unto them the words which thou gave me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me (John 17:8). Amen.

    Acknowledgments

    To my best friend, Sonia:

After I struggled for ten years for new beginnings, you’re not here to see it, but I see your smile for me and hear your laughter too. It’s done, Sonia. I finally finished it. I really wish that God had allowed you to hang around long enough to see it. I know you would have been proud to hear what God has used me to say to His people. Sonia, I love you. I’ll never forget the warmth of your love or smiling face. See you when I get to heaven. There will always be a special place in my heart for you.

    To my daddy, Perry Alexcee:

What can I say? You were there from the beginning to the end and are still there when I need you. Even in your distant state, you make a way. I wish every daddy was like my daddy. When I think about how you bugged me and left me alone to finish this book, I’ve got to say, Daddy, you are the best, and I love you.

    To my children, for sure:

Kawanda, I’m hoping you use this book to bring your mornings back to life. Kennathan, welcome home. Karimah, evangelize and preach the gospel all over the world. Keidra, what are you waiting for? Sing your heart out for God so that His people may be saved. Kwandell, thanks for keeping it real with me. Only you and I know, besides God. And my baby Khalid, keep going. Take the Lord with you and never give up, and your dream will come alive.

    To my second children:

Kawan, I love you. Khalil, I love you. Katurah, you’re God gifted, and I love you. Jamari, I love you so much, and I miss you so much. King, you also. Please come back. Kia and Sha’keem, God bless you both. My newest grandson, Karter, I love you and to my great-great-grandson.

Also to Minister Stephanie Edwards, a role model in my life, and Valarie Williams, my mentor. To all the women who know new beginnings—I cannot name you all, but I love you all. That includes you, Aiyetoura and Prophetess Ashley. Thank you Pastor Angie West-Brown for coming aboard.

    DAY 1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.

    —John 1:1-2

The Bible tells us that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God. Jesus was in the beginning. The Word was in the beginning. God was and is the beginning.

Now this is a new beginning for you. I do not care what has happened yesterday or yesteryear. You go to God in Jesus’s name with a sincere heart now. All old things have passed away, and all things are new.

In Genesis, the Word says, Let there be light. God saw that the light was good. It is the same with you. God says, Let there be light in your life, and He sees that the light is good. He sees what you can’t.

That is why He also says that He will finish the good work that He started in you. God called you out of darkness and into His marvelous light. You should see enough now to know that if the Word was God, then you need to read the Word so it can live within you. You need this Word every day in order for you to live a fulfilled, abundant life with Christ.

The Word is how you begin your new life in Christ, your new day. Be still and quiet, and He will tell you everything you need to know. It is the manual we live by—day by day.

    Prayer

God, teach me discipline so that I can read Your Word every day. Help me to experience the manifestation of Your newness, which You give to me day by day.

    DAY 2

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

    —2 Corinthians 5:17

You have decided to be with Christ already—yesterday in your daily devotion, in your quiet time with God. All the old things have passed away, and behold—you are a new person in Christ. You have awakened to a new day. You have new grace and mercy. You have a new mind, a new heart, and a new attitude.

You have to learn how to think the way God wants you to think. Do not conform to this world, for this world is the kingdom of Satan. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may be able to prove that good, acceptable, perfect will of God.

Look forward now to your new life in Christ. Forget about the old things of yesterday and yesteryear; they are only the mind-boggling deceptions of the devil. The devil only has one job, and that is to destroy. That is his job, so expect it.

Be protected in your newness. Spend daily quiet time with God. You shall go and grow in Christ. Enjoy your new life more abundantly.

    Prayer

Dear God, there is nothing I can do without Your help. Today, my desire is to be renewed daily in the spirit with You. Please help me.

    DAY 3

Forgive and ye shall be forgiven.

    —Matthew 6:14-15

Yeah, I know a whole lot of people have done ugly things to you. You have done a lot of ugly things to people. People are the only creatures God created who can hurt one another emotionally, physically, and spiritually. And they will continue to hurt you as you grow in Christ.

To become new daily, you have to be obedient to Christ and the leaders He has placed in your life. It is hard to forgive people you don’t like. Learn how to love. Love everyone, including your enemies. Love yourself—this is essential to your growth. God our Father said to forgive your brothers and sisters as He has forgiven you. If you don’t forgive your brothers and sisters, then God won’t forgive you. God said this in Matthew 6:14-15; go ahead and look it up.

God wants you to learn how to have compassion for people just like He has compassion for you. Without compassion,
