You Are a New Creation - Judy A Wyllys

    Day One

    Today is Special

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

Today is special! Is it your birthday? Christmas? Day off from work? Perhaps not, but today is special. The Bible tells us that it is special because God made it. There is no other reason needed.

You see, from the scripture, the Lord is giving us a command! Rejoice and be glad in this day! What would your day be like if you were to just be glad today? What would happen if you were to purpose in your heart and mind that, I am going to rejoice and be glad with a song in my heart. You might be surprised how much better your day becomes. Being joyful is contagious too. It might make the daily routine a little less stressful. Your family will certainly notice your joyful attitude. Maybe they might join with you as you hum through your day saying, this is the day the Lord has made and I am going to rejoice and be glad in it. That is a powerful statement

Let’s try an experiment, just for fun. Today, take notice of God’s special day. Throughout your day say, Thank you God for this day. Simple enough, but a statement that will awaken you to notice a change from the inside of you, to the outside, impacting your circumstances. With this experiment, at the end of the day, give yourself a check-up on how your day has gone. I guarantee you, you will have seen a difference.

If you are saying to yourself, You don’t know what I am facing today. Well, that is true, my new friend, but I do know the power of God to change lives (remember your new transformation to a beautiful butterfly?). God’s great love for you and His desire for the best for you, your family and your circumstances, will begin to flow over those tough situations. It begins with a simple statement of thanks to God for this day.

God is working out an amazing transformation in you, as you grow in Jesus. He wants to make you into all you can be with His help.

Pray this prayer: Dear Jesus, Thank you for this day. Help me to rejoice in it because you made it. I surrender my day to you. Help me to be all you want me to be today. Amen

Reach for your Bible and read: Psalm 118 (this is a victory chapter, enjoy)

    Day Two

    Good Morning, God!

Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go, and he’s the one who will keep you on track. Proverbs 3:6 (MSG)

Get the kids up and ready. Make breakfast. Feed the dog, oh, don’t forget the walk the dog. Where’s my other shoe? That bed was so soft and cozy, I hit the snooze alarm too many times, and I’m late. Oh yeah… Good Morning, God!

Does all of this sound familiar? How in the world can there be time for God with a morning like that? Look at the scripture verse in Proverbs one more time. God is giving His children (and you are now one, how cool is that?), the answer for success. Its sounds hard, maybe a bit spooky, but it isn’t. Let’s break it down.

As you spend time with God each day (remember our 60-day journey?), God will direct everything you do, everywhere you go, He’ll keep you on track. How? By giving you direction and wisdom beyond your human capabilities. How does He do that? As you are in His Word (the Bible), and spend time talking to Him, you are asking for His help in everything you do. As those situations occur, you will have an internal knowing what the right thing is to do. This is God keeping you on track.

Now, a word of caution. If you begin to slip on your Bible and prayer time and begin to walk through your days without acknowledging Him in everything you do, you will discover that your life gets more challenging. I don’t know about you, but I know clearly that I am not smart enough to know everything to do and to say and to go, throughout this life. Now, I do know Who does and that is God.

Let me say it very bluntly. You cannot afford to miss your time with God in your mornings. Let Him be in your thoughts as you shut off the alarm and hustle about your busy morning. Invite God into your day, your busy schedule, your kids, your job and your every moment.

As you read Proverbs 3 in your Bible reading today, notice verses 1 and 2. There is an equation for success. The Word says: if you remember my teachings + keep my commands = prolong your life and prosperity. I was never good at math, but I can understand this math equation! Who doesn’t want a long and prosperous life? Let that be your challenge today.

Pray this prayer: Lord Jesus, I invite you into my day. Help me to listen to You in everything I do and everywhere I go. I acknowledge You in all my paths today and I know You will direct me. Good morning, God, I love You. Amen

Reach for your Bible and read: Proverbs 3: 1-6

    Day Three

    God is Listening

I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Psalm 116:1

An amazing thing happens when you pray…God hears you! You are His precious child and you matter to Him. In fact, he is waiting for you to speak to Him. He is waiting for you to put aside all the other things that crowd your day and He is waiting for you to speak to Him.

Do you have exciting news? God wants to hear about it. Is there something you can’t tell anyone else? God wants to hear about it. What about something that makes you sad or even makes you mad? God wants to hear about that too. He is waiting for you to open your heart to His. Wow! Did you know you are that important to God? God is right there with ears and arms wide open.

In the scripture reading today from Psalm 116, you will find that the writer of this chapter is describing some tough times. In verse 3, we find that the cords of death…and the grave threatened him. Have you ever had your life at risk, or you felt you were at the end of your rope? What about trouble and sorrow overcoming you? This chapter talks about that too. The Psalmist called on the name of the Lord, O Lord, save me! The answer to this cry is the next verse, the Lord is gracious and righteous, and our God is full of compassion.

Verses 1-5, are desperate cries for help, but we find in verse 6 and 7, that the
