Tony Payne

Tony Payne grew up in Newfoundland in the beautiful Bonne Bay area, Gros Morne National Park. Trained as a mason, cabinet maker/carpenter. He worked away in Ontario, BC, and PEI, but Newfoundland always called him back. Was with the same lady for twenty years, and have five beautiful kids between them. The eldest, Alex King, is a talented artist; the rest are still young, and he hopes they find their true calling in life also. His take on life is “life is too long to be angry.”

    Waiting for music

    Lonely Makes the Best Melodies

    Still Haven’t Loved Enough

When the stones have fallen down

    Is She a Good Woman?

I Won’t Chase You Any More

    I Think Jesus Looked Away

    In The Morning

    Looking For a Peaceful Man

To The Devil and The Cross

    Weathered and Rusty

    Too Easy When I’m Stoned

    A pretty Face

    The Old Man

I could sense the devil from the wine

    Let’s pretend

    No Matter What the Weather

    Second Hand Wife

    The Frump

    When the darkness disappears

    The Devil in Your Head

    For Your Wedding Ring

    Long Before My Fall

    Jesus I Walked alone

I Want To Be a Fisherman

    The Last Page

    Only The Heart Can See

    Think It All Away

    I You Don’t Love Me

    Whiskey Stoned

Each Night You Keep Me Warm

Who cares if Others Think You’re Strange

You Can’t Take It With You

    Love Found

It Keeps Me from Feeling Blue

I Guess I Miss You Baby

If I Learn to Play, Sing and Dance

    Sometimes

    Stormy Lonely Night

When the Wind Begins To Blow

    Children, Beer and Time?

Our Kids Will Learn to Fly

    Summer of 83

    Maybe It’s Just Bad Timing

    Don’t wait Until Tomorrow

    Every Time It Rains

    Smiley

    Lost love

    Let go

No One Shoots Pool Any More

    Back To Hell

    How the Time Flies By

    Fridays I Don’t Even Try

    Brothers

    On A Divided Highway

    Waiting for music

If you know how to play the fiddle

Or make music with your old guitar

Don’t be afraid to share your talent

Sit down right where you are

    I have been writing lyrics

Without music to make you dance

Just a few rhymes scribbled on paper

Feel free to take a chance

I don’t care if it is easy listening

I don’t care if it is rock and roll

If you can write country music

It will be good for my country soul

I write at least a song a day

365 of them can’t be bad

You can choose the happy tunes

Or you can choose the ones that’s sad

And if you have some time to teach me

A chord or two would be fine

You may need a little patience

Maybe I could make some music mine

So take your time and read each page

You’re sure to find at least one you like

I promise not to sing to loud

For fear some will take my mike

    Tony Payne 2015-1

    Lonely Makes the Best Melodies

Sitting all alone here with shadows

Seems no one talks to me at all

I’m just thinking about some old friends

With the clock ticking on the wall

    I can’t say
