I created the story of Gollymagoshamus and his family fourteen years before publication in anticipation of the birth of my first grandchild, Murphy, and for any more grandchildren we might have, which are now Nellie, Ruby, Max, Harry, Luke, and Heidi. At that time, my daughter, Larni, drew the characters for me, and I have not done them justice in my sketches.
