Penny Watson is an Emergency Nurse Practitioner with over 30 years experience within the Acute Health sector who has also worked as a professionally Registered Healer, Reflexologist and teacher of meditation and visualization techniques working with both individuals and groups. She is married with three grown up sons and lives in rural Derbyshire within the U.K. She lived for a period of time in the Far East and travelled extensively when her family were young. In more recent years she has worked as a Registered Nurse in a busy Accident and Emergency Department in South Yorkshire prior to transferring her skills into becoming a Nursing Officer on the cruise ships. She has finally put down roots on the edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park where she currently lives. The programme that she shares within The Choice to be Happy has evolved over time and many years of observation and practice. She like many has witnessed the devastation when there ceases to be any joy or happiness in life and the ongoing effect that has on personal and professional relationships. We are all aware that despite appearing successful, fit and well on the surface we can often be experiencing mental and emotional torture and anguish and once in that dark space it is often very difficult to stop that progression downwards. The Choice to be Happy was developed from a deep desire to provide a step by step simple but effective approach and to offer practical daily support out of that dark space. The techniques accompanied by specific meditations are designed to sustain both our inner state of mind as well as our physical health. She believes that the more we individually make this a conscious choice and begin to support ourselves in this process, the quicker we can experience this as our reality. Many of us need tremendous help to get from where we are now to thinking, feeling and becoming that happy person that we seek to be. Happiness, joy and feeling good in oneself are a natural consequence that many have found long lasting and life changing which she herself uses on a daily basis to maintain her own state of wellbeing.

My Aim
My aim is quite simply to change lives. To introduce joy, and happiness, and a deep sense of inner peace and well-being.
When each of us turns from the dark, grim place within to a place of light, laughter, peace, and joy, we radiate that to others – our partners, children, friends, and colleagues. We collectively create relationships, families, homes, businesses that care, trust, friendships, love, cooperation, and co-creation.
My vision is to live in a world such as this – to share this vision, to be part of the solution, and this begins from within. From within me. From deep within my mind, my heart, my very being. From me being whole and happy. When I come from a well of joy, I come from the best of me desiring only the best for you.
My blessings to each and every one of you who navigates and journeys within to discover that their Choice to be Happy is the greatest gift they can give to themselves, their loved ones, and this beautiful world.

This may not seem a choice, but we all, in each and every moment, can make a choice towards health and happiness – or not.
The Choice to Be Happy is designed for those searching for a way to begin, becoming a master of your own state of health and happiness … to recognise the relationship between your happiness and your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual state of health – and most of all, to enjoy the journey! To lighten up as you participate actively and adventurously in creating your own state of well-being.
In this practical, step-by-step approach, you are invited to be imaginatively and intimately involved in creating your own path towards happiness, health, and fulfilment. The accompanying digital download is designed to be used in conjunction with the book. They uniquely combine to assist and support each individual on his or her journey, with the opportunity to adapt the meditations to your own specific needs and personal circumstances.

CHAPTER 1
An Invitation to Choose Happiness
Let’s start with a basic question: do you actually wish to be happy?
Stop, think, and ask yourself, Who benefits from my being miserable?
Does anybody?
Then ask yourself, Who benefits from my being happy?
I doubt there are many people who truly benefit from your being miserable. It’s worth exploring for a few moments those among your family, friends, colleagues, clients, and customers who are helped by your being miserable.
Now ask yourself, Am I truly happy being miserable?
Some people are. In this case, continue as you have been doing, but recognize this is your decision.
If you are one of millions who would like to feel differently but are perhaps stuck in a rut and have no idea how to go from being in the dark, grim space you now inhabit to being in a different lighter, brighter place where you can feel better and make a move towards happiness, then this book and digital download are designed to help and support you in discovering a way forward.
Begin by making a commitment to yourself here and now. Create a personal contract with yourself. Your commitment to you could read something like:
I, ___________, agree to do everything from now on to support myself towards my own happiness and well-being.
At this moment, you may not know or be able to differentiate between the signs and signals that will direct you on your journey towards well-being and happiness from those that will keep you stuck in your present state of mind and misery. However, like most journeys, first of all you have to make a decision to begin and to take the first step.
