About this ebook
Important relationship ingredients are covered in the book, including personal agendas that each partner has for entering the relationship and the importance of honestly sharing these agendas in both the premarital and postmarital phases of ones relationship.
The book claims that letting go of the past so that both partners are free to grasp the present and future is important. And the author describes in good detail his own experiences in this area and the struggles that one can go through until he or she can finally let go of past relationships and childhood attachments that impair the ability to let go and accept the present and reach toward the future.
The book also deals with the matter of intimacy, its parameters, and why it is a vital bonding agent in relationships. It explains some of the common reasons why intimacy may not be fully achieved and what can be done about it in order to reach a fuller and richer relationship.
Finally and, ultimately, the most important behavior that the book encourages everyone to learn is to live within themselves; that is, within their physical, emotional, intellectual, and financial boundaries in order to reach and enjoy contentment.
If you are seeking answers to these questions and conditions for living more comfortably, this book is for you!

Foreword
This book will give the reader another set of data points in her or his adventure of life.
In part 1 Growing Up, Marriage and Career, I will acquaint the reader with my own story which will focus on the lessons that I have learned up to the present. This Part zeros in on one person’s life through his own lens. Romance and finance rank high on the lessons learned list and mine will be described in Part 1. So does lessons learned in growing up along with the realization that being successful later on in life only requires that we apply ourselves, and never give up, and realize when your breaks occur to be ready for them. Luck
can play a significant part in our journey, but we can never depend on the exact time or place it will happen—just be ready to capitalize when it happens and try not to waste these times.
In Part 2-The Road to Financial Security, I will describe the habits and behaviors that I followed in creating financial security for myself after years of getting nowhere in this quest. In my case it took the exercise of inculcating the habit of saving and to a large degree a willingness to remain with one employer for over two decades (longer than I had ever been before)—to take advantage of an employee stock ownership benefit plan which in my case happened to result in a nice distribution at retirement age. Risk- taking opportunities will always present themselves, and this decision to remain in one place for such a long period was not without some risk. Always do the math in deciding whether to stay or leave, and realize when your cheese moves
you have to go too.
In Part 3 I will explore one of the most challenging, albeit rewarding, journeys in life— romance
. Ever wonder about that urge to merge? Do you remember the first time you felt it? Do you remember who it was and what you did about it?
The urge to merge is a powerful force. It has been a major motivator at some time in just about everyone’s life. How has it affected your life? Are you happy with the results or do you want that urge to produce better results and work out better?
What are the ingredients of the happy guy-girl merger? Do you have your finger on the answer and have you learned the secret of success?
Girls and guys are very different. Have you ever given any thought to how girl-guy agendas
differ and how they have affected your relationships? What are these agendas anyway, and how can you distinguish them? Is your agenda realistic?
Has your past ever gotten in the way of your present urge to merge and subsequent relationships? Do you still hang on to past relationships and childhood attachments? Do you know how to get over them?
Also, continued personal growth requires self- examination which is vital to a lasting relationship. Do you know how to achieve it?
Intimacy vitalizes every romantic relationship. What exactly is intimacy
? What is chemistry
and how is it related to
