About this ebook

Faith to Remove Mountains discuss some of the teachings that my mother taught me before her illness and death from Alzheimers disease in November of 1996. My purpose for writing this book was divinely inspired. While I was compiling bible scriptures to help my mother, I realized there were many people who also needed help, so my focus shifted from serving self to serving others. My book also include scriptures that helped me through my divorce from a 20 year marriage as well.

    Dedication

This book is dedicated in memory of my parents, the late M. D. (Bo) Garrett Sr. and the late Ollie Borden Garrett, with much love and respect.

My parents were two of the most faithful people I have ever known. When I was growing up, people would ask other people who their kinfolk were. This was how they found out whether they were related to certain people and what kind of people they were talking to. The kind of people your parents or kinfolks were often told people what kind of person you were. Whenever people asked me who my parents were, I was always proud to tell them. My parents did everything in their power to bring up their eleven children in a good, strong Christian faith. They wanted us to have the very best that life had to offer. They instilled the fear of the Lord in us and taught us that faith helped us to live the right way. We knew that if we were saved, we would go to heaven, where God was. If we were lost, we would burn in hell, where the Devil was.

My parents had never received high school diplomas. Faith was their only credential to lead rewarding lives. When my father was twelve years old, his father died. My father quit school in the seventh grade so he could work and take care of his mother, brothers, and sisters. My father didn’t work so he could buy things for himself. His main concern in life was his family members and their well-being. My father taught my brothers how to become men so that they would know how to make it in life without him. He knew how hard life could be for a boy who didn’t have a father.

Before my father died, he told my seven brothers, William, Elroy, Urban, Orlando, M. D. Jr., Louis, Melvin, and my three sisters, Patricia, Diane, Ella, and me that we had been obedient children. Because of the example he’d set for us, he could rest assured that we would stay close to Mother and take care of her. My mother stayed with us twenty-three years after my father’s death. Now she no longer suffers or has troubles or endless cares. She is blessed with the assurance that she will be with the Lord forevermore.

If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you. (Matthew 17:20 KJV)

    Preface

I wrote this book to encourage people who are going through many problems in life. When my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 1991, I began looking up Bible verses I thought would bring her healing. I kept all of these Scriptures in a binder so I could find them easily. One day while I was reading through these Scriptures, the Holy Spirit convicted me. I realized I was not the only person in the world who was hurting. God showed me that these Scriptures, which I had been compiling, could help others as well. That’s when I began my writing journey for this book.

Faith to Remove Mountains is designed to increase your faith and give you victory in every area of your life. Most people struggle in life because they haven’t learned how to tap into the spiritual realm. Life is a struggle for them. There is a solution for every problem and need. God gives each person faith. How that person operates in his or her faith determines his or her degree of success. Faith is what dreams are made of. We are saved by our faith in God. It’s the hope we build our lives on while waiting for Jesus to come back for us. When Adam and Eve ate the only fruit in the garden of Eden that was forbidden, humankind lost paradise. Only faith in Jesus Christ, the Anointed One, can give us back what we have lost.

I want to thank my family for encouraging and believing in me while I worked on this project. I want to thank my friends, church family, and community, who enrich my life. I am truly blessed.

    Chapter 1

    What Is Faith?

T he Bible says, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Faith goes far beyond what you can see in the natural realm. Faith, when put into action, has the ability to reach into the spiritual realm and to bring the things we want on earth into existence. It moves you from the natural realm to the supernatural realm. Through faith the worlds were framed by the word of God, giving evidence to the things which do appear.

Faith simply means to believe and to trust. It’s having confidence in what you believe (your doctrine or creed). Biblical faith demands that we trust God. Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness. Hebrews 11:6 says, But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Christian faith is built on knowing that God exists. Before we can trust God, we have to believe in him.

God reveals himself to us through his creation, his written Word, his son,
