This book is lovingly dedicated to my husband, Bob,

who endured so many hours alone as I closeted myself

away to seek and pursue our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Thank you, Bob, for your patient support and love.

I also dedicate this book to the original five Christian sisters,

Adele, Cindy, Linda, Noel, and Rahab,

who gave me reason to seek and write daily.

Thank you for your love, friendship, and support.

    About the Author

    Foreword

H ave you ever noticed how many daily devotionals there are available to readers these days?

There are some that follow themes, some that cater to a specific gender or to specific people groups. Many are written by so-called experts or people who are considered wise and knowledgeable in a certain area. However, I have not yet run across a daily devotional that is written by an ordinary woman who lives in an ordinary house and struggles with many of the doubts and fears that I do. I too am just an ordinary woman.

I first met the author, Karen Muckalt, in 2012. I learned that she lived on a small ranch with her husband in a particularly isolated part of southern Saskatchewan. She loved the Lord and wanted to know Him more personally. It was the desire of her heart.

In my own walk with the Lord, I have learned that all Christ followers are challenged by God to do something new or to try something beyond what they think is within their natural capabilities. That is exactly what Karen experienced in early 2014. It was as if God was saying, Come and spend time with me, and I will show you things you did not know. He invited her to walk, to wait, to talk, and listen to Him for 365 days.

With encouragement, Karen stepped out in faith and took Him up on His invitation. She knew that He would also provide whatever she needed to see it through, and He did.

Karen welcomes us to share in her personal and intimate journey of growth, healing, and discovery into who God is and the power of the Word of God.

    Enjoy,

    Adele Neil

    Preface

I n October 2013, while in prayer in my grotto, a secluded spot in our rather massive yard that I created and dedicated to God years ago, I asked God to reveal to me His will for my life.

I have always asked God to speak to me in small, simple words so that I wouldn’t miss or misunderstand Him, and He did just that.

So clearly as to be almost audible, I received His small, simple words in my spirit. I heard, Tell them.

I asked what I was to tell and to whom but received no response. This remained a mystery to me for almost three months. I kept asking and kept wondering what those two small words meant, to no avail. I knew I had heard Him speak those words to me, and I knew He had a specific job in mind, but I remained at a loss about the what and who.

Early in 2014 I accepted a challenge to pray Colossians 1:1–14 daily over five Christian sisters for one full year. As I embraced and embarked on this challenge, I asked God to let me be an encouragement to these five very special women who grace my life with their very presence. Again the words came, saying, Tell them, and He delivered a brief word of encouragement for them from His Word. I wrote, I typed, and I e-mailed that word of encouragement.

As I was about to hit the send button on that e-mail I heard another voice saying, Who do you think you are? You don’t really believe God would talk to you personally, do you?

I hit send immediately before those words could take root, and I decided
