About this ebook

This book contains all the horrors of life and after life, read it if you dare. I separated all the nasty and horrible poems I could find amongst the whole host of over 400 poems I have written over the last 15 years.

I recommend that you read it with company and never on your own, and also keep the light on. Of all the poems Ive ever written I must admit, I enjoyed writing them and presenting them to the poetry forum I was running at the time. Trying to please everyone is so hard, however on many occasions I did satisfy those with a thirst for poetry. All I can say is Read this and any of my other books.

A Book of Dark Poems - Terry J Powell

    Addiction

Her eyes flicker open after another heavy night

As another day hit the dim room with light

Shakily her hand reaches for a ready-made Joint

She needs it now; it will help her to a point

As she takes her first puff, it will burn away all hope

Just to tide her over, so she can cope

Trapped and helpless in another day

Wishing deep down she could escape and get away

Her only thought in her mind, is an amber white line

That her body now yearns for, at this present time

    Relaxed now from the shakes

    As drug addiction makes

She dresses in oversized clothes that used to fit

They now hang loosely off her every little bit

The loss of appetite and for food she needed to feed

Her habit is her only need

Losing all her self-respect that she needs to sell

On a street corner, as any curb crawler knows well

Just one more trick for another daily score to pay

In the hope she gets her fix for another day

She used to have a life once, when she was free

Thinking to herself, this is now me

She carries this heavy shame inside

Something now she knows she cannot hide

Losing all family and friends that in time she ripped off one by one

Her need was greater, now it’s done

Her only friends now is the dealer and the gear

The only need in her life now, she holds dear

A small packet in a wrap

Knowing the risk that it’s cut with all kinds of crap

Rushing back to her little hovel she calls a place

The excitement and the wanting, makes her heart race

Oh the desperate need for that warm injection

She cannot fight that addictive infection

    Now the rush

    She needed very much

As a thousand unconscious moments surge

As she relaxes to a fulfilled urge

    Her eyes slowly close gently

    Limp both physically and mentally

    She draws a breath

    Taken now by death

As her lonely sole drifts off from its holds release

She another statistic of an O/D in a report by the police

She will not know pain any more; she’s left it all behind

A family will now carry that pain in memory in mind
