About this ebook
Maria, the daughter of Pedro Miguel, who is the head of the Mafia, wants to be a star. Her father, Pedro, is doing everything to stop her, including the raking of a Rolls-Royce of a club owner that hired Maria. Marias previous boyfriend, Derrick, who is a gangster working for her father, imposes himself to Maria as a lawyer. Rico, Pedros brother, who lives in Bogot, grows the marijuana and sends it to Pedro, but Ricos ambition is to take all the empire for himself, planning to kill Pedro and his family. Rico sends the marijuana to a competitor, and before arriving to Los Angeles on a bet, one of Ricos gang seduces an airline hostess in the plane bathroom. While in Los Angeles, Rico and all his gang raped a prostitute in the park, leaving her naked, and then they drove to Pedros warehouse and killed few of Pedros guards. Derricks jealousy drove him to order the torture and killing of Toni, who is Marias lover and musical director. Maria spies on her father and finds out that her father and Derrick are gagsters and killers. Rico and his gang surround the big estate of Pedro. Maria slashes her both of her wrists, thinking that her father, Pedro, killed Toni. Rico and his gang shoot and kill Derrick and others from Pedros gang. All the members of Ricos gang were killed, but Pedros chauffeur killed Rico inside the estate. In the hospital, Maria receives from her father, Pedro, a one-million-dollar check and an explanation on who killed Toni. Her father also told her that he is retiring from his business. Maria wins the American Idol competition.

FADE IN:
INT / EXT – LOS ANGELES (1978) – BELLAIRE – MIGUEL ESTATE – DAY
SERITA, a Colombian middle aged maid is serving dinner, while FRANCO, a smallish but distinguishing looking butler is serving wine.
ANGELINA
Thank you Franco, that’s enough for me.
Franco nods his head courteously and starts filling up Maria’s
glass as she nibbles at a piece of chicken. Maria is a twenty one
– year – old brunette with an exotic beauty. Angelina is sixty, petite
and elegant looking.
ANGELINA
Is everything okay, Maria?
MARIA
Yes mother, everything is just fine.
As PEDRO MIGUEL regards her searchingly. Pedro is sixty-five, good looking for his age, with a well preserved athletic physique. Next to Pedro is JOSE ARTURO, typical Spanish looks. Jose is thirty five and built like a prize fighter.
MARIA
Father, I wanna be a star.
Interrupting Pedro and Jose as they AD LIB and share a private joke.
MARIA
I don’t wanna go back to college
and be a doctor, daddy.
I’m talented. I’m a natural …
There is a non – committal look on Pedro’s face.
MARIA
Everyone thinks I’m a good singer.
My songs are very commercial.
PEDRO
Listen to me, sweetheart, you
know how much your mama
and I care for you. You are my
only child. I’ll do anything for
you. But I don’t want you to get
into the rough world of show
biz. You can’t take the pressures.
You’ll get hurt and disappointed.
MARIA
(defensively)
No, I won’t.
PEDRO
(sternly)
You’re to smart and sophisticated for
that low life world of punk rock.
ANGELINA
Come on, Pedro, don’t be so hard on her.
PEDRO
Mama, I don’t want you interfering.
Waving an index finger and shaking his head in a negative gesture.
PEDRO
I know what’s good for you Maria.
(belligerently)
Do you want our baby to be a punk rocker?
Or a drug addict, tell me mama…
tell me?
Everyone but Jose stops eating.
MARIA
But papa, what about stars like Barbara
Streisand and Frank Sinatra, there’re
smart and sophisticated too.
PEDRO
Maria, I know this business inside out.
It’s rough, mafia, drugs, you name it..
You don’t need the money. What would
people think, what would my family
at home in Colombia think?…
my daughter a punk rocker?
Angelina regards Maria sympathetically and pats her back encouragingly.
EXT - MIGUEL ESTATE - DAY
OSVALDO, an elderly uniformed chauffeur opens the door of a gleaming dark blue convertible Rolls Royce as Maria walks towards the car.
MARIA
You can take the rest of the day off,
Osvaldo, I’ll drive myself.
Osvaldo nods in a servile manner.
MARIA is looking at familiar landmarks, Rodeo Drive etc, Maria drives through Beverly Hills she inserts a tape into the cassette deck.
We HEAR ‘Do it to me’, a rhythmic, upbeat song. She sings along with
The tune, rocking her head and shoulders in synchronization.
EXT - BEVERLY HILLS ESTATE - DAY
Maria leaves her Rolls Royce. She rings the doorbell. A housekeeper leads her through the living room to an Olympic size swimming pool where ANDY RAY, 50 Caucasian balding sun bathing with a blonde in her early twenties. At the other end of the pool also sunbathing and drinking is a middle aged guy, sandwiched by two girls.
MARIA
Hi Ray, your life must be one long party.
You always seem to be kicking back.
MARIA Ignores the blonde and taking a seat next to Ray.
RAY
Well, all work and no play makes Jack
a dull boy, it also makes Ray a dull boy…
(chuckling)
Seriously, I have a good staff, they
do a great. They need me only for
emergencies, like taking care of the
big stars.
Openly admiring his well – tanned body.
RAY
Honey, why don’t you take a dip.
Taking the hint, the blonde leaves reluctantly and dives into the swimming pool.
RAY
What’s up Maria?
MARIA
I need to record five of my new songs
in a twenty- four track studio. Its gonna
cost me about Fifty grand to get a good
producer and good session musicians.
My dad doesn’t want to know. He’s getting
paranoid about my becoming a star.
RAY
(softly)
Look Maria, you know I’m not a producer.
I’m just an agent..
MARIA
I know, but you’re an agent with clout.
Come on Ray give me a break. Don’t you
think I’m talented enough to make it?
RAY
(patronizingly)
Of course, you’re very talented. But your
Dad is a very powerful man. I won’t want
him to get on my case. If he doesn’t like
the idea, well, you know…
MARIA
(interrupting)
You’re not scared of my dad, what can
he do to you? Hey, you’re just looking
for excuses.
RAY
Do you have any idea what could happen
to me if he knows I’m doing things
behind his back?
As the blonde hangs around the edge of the pool.
RAY
Honey, how about fixing me a scotch?
Maria, do you care for a drink?
The blonde leaves the pool, joining Maria and Ray.
MARIA
I’ll take a double on the rocks. I need
something to cheer me up. I’ve got too
much negative vibes for one day, first it
was dad, now you.
She takes the glass from the blonde and takes a giant gulp.
RAY
I don’t understand you Maria. Forget
being a star.
(emphatically)
you are a star anyway. You’re very
beautiful, you have expensive cars,
clothes, your dad is loaded, what else
can you ask for?
MARIA
That’s a load of baloney and you know it.
I can’t live on my father’s glory. I have goals
of my own. I want to be respected for my
achievements. I’m sick of asking for things
from my dad. I want my independence.
BLONDE
Come Ray, how about a swim?
The blonde stretches out her hand seductively to ray, who readily accepts it.
MARIA
(Half aloud)
Bitch
Ray and the blonde jump into the pool.
MARIA
I’m getting the hell out of here.
Leaving unceremoniously.
INT / EXT - BEVERLY HILLS MARIA’S 16 TRACK STUDIO - STUDIO
We HEAR the compelling beat of the song ‘One night stand’, emanating from a drum machine.
TONI is in Maria’s 16 track studio. Toni is 22, handsome with Latin features.
The drumbeat continues unabated. Suddenly, a synthesizer bass line synchronizes in with the drumbeat. Toni straps on around his shoulder, a Fender bass guitar and plugs it into the mixing board.
He is in high spirits and ostensibly having fun as he records himself.
Simultaneously, Toni admires his reflection in a king size mirror on the wall of the studio he wriggles his body in a sexy manner as he continues to record.
The handle of the studio door, is turning slowly, Maria steps in closing the door gently, Toni ignores her as he continues to record.
MARIA
(excited)
Hey, I like the groove, it sounds great.
The track comes to an end. Still ignoring Maria, he starts to rewind it.
MARIA
Are you in a bad mood again?
TONI
(mournfully)
It seems I have to keep my mouth shut.
You think everything I say is a lie.
MARIA
It sure seems that way. Remember when
I first met you, you told me you were living
with an older woman in Beverly Hills.
You also told me you had a car that was
being fixed in a shop…
TONI
(interrupting)
I wasn’t telling you no lie.
In an unconvincing tone of voice.
MARIA
If you were living with this lady in
Beverly Hills, how come when I picked
up your belongings so that you can
