THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO RICHARD JOBSON

As vocalist with Skids, Richard Jobson has enjoyed 10 chart singles (including the 1979 Top 10 hit Into The Valley) and made five albums (including Burning Cities in 2018), but his musical endeavours continued with The Armoury Show (who are set to perform intimate dates later this year) and albums of poetry with musical accompaniment from Virginia Astley. He’s also been a television presenter and film reviewer, written and directed five feature films (including New Town Killers and 16 Years Of Alcohol) and, among myriad other creative endeavours, published last year’s novel The Speed Of Life. A driven artist, then. Some might even say a renaissance man: “It’s a term that’s bandied around but not one I’d ever use,” says Jobson. “I’d put it under the heading ‘a lust for life’.”
