About this ebook
We are faced with an industrialization phenomenon that makes itself felt in literature as well as in every other subject. The reshaping of literature according to the conditions of market capitalism turns literary products into simple consumables. Newly released literary novels, stories, poems, essays, etc. literary products no longer have an artistic quality, they are consumed quickly and resemble Hollywood movies…
Identical, fabricated books adorn the shelves of the bookstore. We are faced with books that appeal to the eye, not to the pleasure of reading. Every day, we are showered with novels whose content resembles a movie script, and the most popular ones are immediately adapted to the cinema. Their styles, plots and even the subjects themselves are extremely superficial, identical books are everywhere.
There are quite a few pages in such works, but it is possible to read and finish them in a short time. We would like to say that the reason for this is that it is written in a successful language. However, if we consider that the majority of the people who read these books find it boring and they find it boring, this is not the main reason. The main reason is that in such industrial novels, whether it is character analysis, description of environment and events, a very superficial work is done. Writers don't think about these things. Because – a group of authors should be excluded from this – what is important for authors now is the sales figures and the amounts they will earn, rather than the literary and aesthetic characteristics of their works.

Margaret Atwood • Happy Endings - Oggito
John and Mary meet. What happens next? If you want a happy ending, try A.
A
John and Mary fall in love and get married. Both have occupations that they find rewarding, satisfying, and enjoyable. They buy a nice house. Finally, when they are confident that they can afford it, they have two children and devote themselves to them. Children grow up and become good adults. John and Mary have an exciting and enjoyable sex life and valuable friends. They go on fun vacations together. They retire and eventually die. The story ends here.
B
Mary is in love with John, but John is not in love with Mary. He uses her body for his own selfish pleasure and warm ego satisfaction. Twice a week he comes to the girl's house and the girl cooks for the man. You may have noticed that the guy doesn't even think it's worth taking the girl out to dinner. After he eats, he fucks the girl and then falls asleep. Meanwhile, the girl collects the dirty crockery around and washes it so that the man does not think she is scruffy, and when she gets up, she freshens her lipstick to look good to the man. But when the man gets up, he doesn't even notice it and puts on his socks, shorts, pants, shirt, shoes in the reverse order of taking off. She doesn't take off Mary's clothes, she takes it off herself every time as if she were dying to have sex with him. It's not that he loves sex, he doesn't really like sex, but he wants John to think so because if they do it often enough, John will get used to it.They'll become addicted and they'll get married, but John sometimes leaves without even saying goodnight and shows up three days later at around six o'clock. They take everything from scratch. Mary is tired. Crying isn't good for the face, Mary knows it like everyone else, but she can't help herself. His colleagues at work notice the situation. Even though her friends say that John is a rat, a pig, a dog, not a man who could deserve Mary, Mary cannot believe them. He believes that another John is hidden inside John, much better. This other John thinks that if he gets bored enough, he will pop up like a butterfly coming out of a cocoon, like a spring puppet that pops out of a box, like a prune seed. One evening, John complains about the food. He has never complained about food before. Mary is broken. Her friends tell Mary that they saw John at the restaurant with a woman named Madge. It's not Madge that upsets Mary, it's the restaurant. John never took Mary to the restaurant. Mary takes all the sleeping pills and aspirin she finds and swallows them all with half a bottle of white Spanish wine. You can tell what kind of woman she is by the fact that she doesn't even do it by drinking whiskey. He leaves a note for John. She hopes John realizes the situation, rushes her to the hospital in time, and tells her that they can regret it and get married, but that doesn't happen and Mary dies. John marries Madge and everything continues as in A.
NS
John, an older man, is in love with Mary, who is only twenty-two years old, and Mary is upset with the man because she is worried that his hair is falling out. She sleeps with John even though she's not in love. They met at work. Mary is in love with a twenty-two-year-old man named James, who is not yet ready to marry and start her life. Unlike James, John has set himself up long ago, and that's what's bothering him. John has a steady, respectable job and is one of the best in his field, but Mary is not impressed by him, but by James, who has a motorcycle and an excellent album collection. But James often jumps on his motorcycle and drives away freely. Since freedom doesn't mean the same to girls, Mary also spends Thursday evenings with John. Thursdays are John's only escape. John is married to a woman named Madge, and they have two children, a beautiful house they bought shortly before property prices skyrocketed, and enjoyable, satisfying hobbies they do whenever they find time. John tells Mary how important he is, but cannot leave his wife because there is a promise made. He talks about the situation for too long and Mary gets bored, but it's natural for the old men to take a long talk and Mary usually has a good time with him. One day, James is riding a state-of-the-art California hybrid motorcycle, and he and Mary go as far as you'd like to believe and get into bed. Everything happens suddenly, and then John, who has the key, walks in and finds the two of them together, their heads high and each other. Considering Madge, she has nothing to be jealous of at all, but despair still crumples her. After all, he is a middle-aged man, and in two years his head will be bald like an egg and he can't stand it. Saying he will do target practice, he buys a pistol—the weak part of this scenario can only be dealt with later—and shoots both lovers and himself. After a reasonable amount of mourning, Madge marries an understanding man named Fred, and everything continues as in A but under different names.
D
Fred and Madge have no problems. They get along very well and are very successful in solving potential problems that may arise between them. But their beautiful house is by the sea and one day a giant wave comes. Property values drop drastically. The rest of the story is about how they escaped the giant wave. They survive, thousands of people die, but Fred and Madge are virtuous and lucky. Finally, on a high hill, soaking wet, dripping from their heads, they hug each other in gratitude and the story continues as in A.
TO
Yes, but Fred has a heart condition. The rest of the story is about how kind and understanding they both were until Fred died. Afterwards, Madge dedicates herself to charity until the end of A. If you like, this last one can be Madge
, cancer
, guilty and confused
or watching the birds
.
F
If you find these stories too bourgeois, make John a revolutionary and Mary a spy and see how things unfold. Remember, this is Canada. Although in between are the voluptuous epic fights of a passionate love affair that kind of persists today, you'll eventually get to A. You have to face that no matter how you divide, the endings are the same. Don't be fooled by the other endings, they are all fake. They are fake endings that are exaggerated, either because of deliberate malicious deception or because of over-optimism, if not over-emotionality. The only thing that is true is this: John and Mary die. John and Mary die. John and Mary die. We talked a lot about endings. Beginners are always more fun. Mastery is somehow created out of the tension between the two because doing anything with it is one of the hardest things to do. That's all that can be said about possible scenarios, just something that comes after something, a what and what and nothing more. Now try How and Why.

I enter the room. He looks at me like a branched piece of kindling stuck to the wall. His eyes seem to be shining, as if they were blazing. I take one step, he takes dozens. It scares me, it disgusts me. What is he seeing now? Does he see me? He must be able to see ahead, otherwise how will he crawl. But it feels like the opposite, as if she's looking right at me now. Go away, he says, this is mine now. I take another step or two towards him, he slips behind the curtain. Fearfully, I approach the curtain and
