    PREFACE

This story is about a young man named Maurice Washington aka Re-C, who changed his life after his promise to his mother on her death bed. Ten years passed of hard work which brought about positive results to the youth he mentored at the community centers. His pass involvement in the streets of Metro City, State come back in his world making a challenge for his higher power. The end results prove many are called. Only a few can be Da Minister (Divine-Advocate)

My apology to anyone who may find the language used not to be suitable to your liking. I do respect any criticism of how I cross the line straight to a place we live. The words in this story were chosen to express a tone and include vulgarity. A real world occupied by real people. A reality to one person is totally different from what another person perceives. No one can be certain of what people do with the information they gather, but the actions of a person will produce a unique outcome that could affect many.

I used the word "fuck, mutha fuck(a)(s) sparingly. I think the words God and damn it (together) only came out once. Maybe damn (it) pops up from time to time. Reference to God is in high regards throughout this story as the Father, and his power is the basis of its outcome. Resolve comes from the most powerful link we have with the creator, and that is through prayer.

No one in this story exists past or present. None of these events ever happened. If a similar incident occurred, it was pure coincidence. Also at the time of this write, I have no affiliation with any social society (just a writer with a vivid imagination).

This story has been written solely to entertain the intellect as I display metaphors directed towards unified thought with my readers. No one will cheer for the bad guy if he hurts someone in my story because wrong is wrong. One time or another each and every one face it.

I truly hope you my readers enjoy this story. Do not be too quick to judge character. Not everyone is a menace to society. Anyone can change, but only a few people can change people. At the end of this story, ask yourself where you fit in your society. Are you a builder or a destroyer? Are you driven or are you being drove? Knowing a Power greater than I allow me to envision things I can do to be a better husband, father, friend, neighbor, or professional caregiver. We all have to look at that person in the mirror and get on board to do our part in this thing called ‘LyFe’.

    THE NO

It’s June 20th, on a Thursday night in a place called Metro City, State and all is quiet. Re-C is taking a routine walk in the neighborhood. There’s no one outside; the night is quiet and calm. A few cars pass by, with the windows down and music up. As he turns the corner, he notices a vehicle stop at the end of the street. It was a black SUV, with tinted windows, nice chrome wheels, with the motor running. Minding his own business, Re-C continues walking. He notices the SUV slowly pulling off. Nonetheless, Re-C walks to the end of the block, and as he turns the corner he notices the SUV come up beside him, with the side door opened, and three guys jumped out. They grab Re-C and cover his head with a black cloak. The three guys forced Re-C in the SUV, holding him face down, with his hands tied behind his back and with duct tape wrapped around his ankles.

In a startled tone Re-C asked,

Hey, what’s going on? Where are you taking me? What’s the deal?

    One of the captors said,

Just be quiet! There’s nothing you can do so the less you say, the better off you’ll be.

Although Re-C was helpless, he told the guy who had his knee in the middle of his back, Whoever you are, ease up off me!

The man took his knee off his back, but the driver said,

Say another word, we’ll duct tape your mouth too.

Re-C didn’t know what was going on, but he thought to himself, It would be better if he just be quiet and find out where he’s going.

The ride was about 15 minutes. He noticed the SUV made a turn, and the ride became bumpy. They were driving over a brick road.

After a few minutes, the ride seemed as if they were driving down a gravel road. Finally slowing down to a sudden stop, he could hear the sound of a large door opening. The SUV began to move again, entering into the destination, which appeared to be behind a large door. After the large door had shut, the SUV continued on about a hundred yards then stopped. The vehicle doors opened again, and Re-C was drug out onto his feet.

There was another man standing some distance from Re-C and directed the others to, Cut off the tape around his ankles so he can walk over here.

The driver cut off the tape. The other two men holding Re-C by his arms made him walk before the man standing afar, and with the black cloth still over his head, he was forced to kneel down. The man standing in front of him said,

Maurice Washington, you are brought before this council to abide by its guidelines, or you will die.

Re-C was startled and a bit afraid asked,

Council? What council? Who are you, and what am I supposed to do?

The man standing in front of him roared,

Silence! You only speak when you are asked to speak. Right now, you need to listen. The things that you’re about to hear and learn could make you a very powerful man. This council is of a secret order. It is so secret; men have been known to be sliced into multiple pieces and thrown into various rivers for even mentioning its name.

Re-C gasped and took a deep swallow. The man in front of him said,

You have been chosen by this council to fulfill a specific task. You are before me for initiation. After the initiation is complete, you will be instructed as to what you will do.

The man paused a few seconds and asked Re-C,

Do you understand what I have just said to you?

Kneeling down with hands tied behind his back, and black cloth over his head, Re-C could not believe what was going on. Mostly he was wondering how he got into this situation. In his mind, he thought,

What are my chances of surviving this ordeal?

He knew it would be based totally on his behavior or actions. Apprehensively he asks,

Help me to understand this, you say I have been chosen by this secret organization to do something for you, whatever you want me to do, and I don’t have any say on my own behalf?

The man standing in front of him spoke and said,

Once you have gone through the three days of this initiation, you will totally understand what is needed of you.

    Re-C replied,

"Three days? What about my son? What about my father? What about my outreach and
