    CHAPTER 1

    UNDERSTANDING THE SPIRIT OF GOD

Before we begin let me clarify that the following chapters are not intended as an interpretation of any spiritual writings. Also let me make it clear that they are not meant to discredit scripture or religious beliefs. The intent and purpose is to acknowledge and understanding the Spirit of God. References to what man has written in the past will not be used for verification but to help reveal and acknowledge the Spirit of God.

The references used to compare are from the chapters and verses of the 1611 Authorized Version of the King James Bible and for the purpose of helping recognize and acknowledge the Spirit of God. To translate or interpret scripture again would be a translation of a translation or an interpretation of an interpretation of an interpretation and we have enough of those. To find the Spirit of God man must first look within one’s self because the Spirit of God and his tabernacle are in each of us.

The entire of God’s creations are linked together therefore keep in mind that the wonders of God are linked together and one truth will be explained when understanding another. Because of that there will seem to be much repetition. I am writing what I believe the Lord God has given me for the intent of searching beneath what man has already written to expose his Spirit.

It has been said the best way of learning is by repetition and throughout these chapters there will be much repeating for that purpose. As we continue repetition will help to establish a solid foundation for the Spirit of God and the Spirit of God is what gives the word of God meaning. By repeating something often enough it becomes embedded in the mind becoming part of one’s thinking just as the language a person learns to speak. Therefore the WHY and HOW will be repeated often to establish this solid foundation.

Let me start with this very important fact; God is a spirit and must be acknowledged in the spirit and when he is acknowledged in the spirit he is worshipped in the spirit.

Although man was aware of the Spirit for thousands of years it was difficult to explain and record because man had nothing to compare it with. Also man’s vocabulary was very limited at that time with maybe a hundred (100) words to say everything. Man did not have a lot of words to help describe, explain or clarify. Therefore man used things and situation of this world to explain the spirit. Also keep in mind when the first Scripture was being recorded the things and situations used to explain the Spirit were from a life style thousands of years ago and what people thought then and how we think today will be different. Therefore it is important when seeking the Spirit to separate the Spirit from the world. If the word of God is not separated from the ways of the world it can be misunderstood and misinterpreted. The spirit must be separated from the flesh or God may be understood as a thing or a ritual. Man will then begin to put his faith in a piece of cloth, a piece of wood, a statue, or a picture or in a customized procedure and there by ignoring the spirit.

If man looks for and believes in signs and wonders of this world he does not believe in God, his faith is caught up in what he can see or what he can feel or touch. God has created this world but is not of this world. Therefore the accounts of God must be comprehended in spirit and not in the flesh. Here are some of the things of the world man has used to compare and explain the spirit. One was Light because in the light one is aware of all that surrounds him and can choose correctly. Therefore light was used to symbolize the truth of what EXISTS spiritually as well as worldly. Another reference was darkness; in darkness one cannot see clearly and is not aware of all that surrounds him therefore he can stumble and fall. Man used darkness referring to being ignorant of spiritual true as well as being unaware of his worldly surroundings. Water was used to symbolize the source of life both worldly and spiritually. On planet earth nothing can survive without water so man used water to also symbolize spiritual survival, the knowledge of God.

Reading scripture in the flesh with a worldly understanding gives only a partial truth. To receive a full understanding scripture must be read in the spirit and to receive the whole truth the spirit and world must be separated. As one reads the following chapters the spiritual understanding will be made clearer. Always be aware at the time man began recording the Wonders of God he or she used his or her worldly understanding making reference to things of this world that was understood. This is understandable because the only way man had to explain Spiritual things at that time was by a worldly reference. And because of this the knowledge of God became worldly and the Spirit of God remained hidden.

God has revealed himself to man since man’s primitive state long before man could read or write. This means all recordings of God before the time of writing were handed down verbally and over time verbal accounts can vary. The Knowledge of God was handed down from generation to generation according to what man believed God had told him or what others had told them. Always remember no matter what man believes God has revealed to him the Spirit of God remains unchanged.

Question; Man makes mistakes so how do we know what he wrote is correct? The Truth of God will always be in the Spirit. Beware of the standards man has set for God and always search for the Spirit, because in the Spirit is the truth. Here is something to think about; has man put God in an arena and expects him to perform to the standards man has set? Individual understanding created differences in the accounts of God from one generation to the next and from one person to the next. These deviations caused confusion and disagreement leading to the separation of believers. This is evident in the many religious beliefs of today all claiming to know the truth. Why so many different beliefs when there is only one true God? Let me repeat this again; before writing all records were by memory and with a worldly understanding. God has revealed himself to man from the day he created him when man had very little knowledge or understanding. Because man’s understanding varies form one person to the next there will be differences of opinion and belief in each verbal account. This is why one must seek to understand God in the Spirit. The Spirit of God is always the same and will never change.

Ten people given the same account of God will give ten different interpretations. A good example are the recordings of Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John each giving the same accounts but in a different variation. Although there was a difference in their explanation the thing that tied them together was they all agreed in Spirit. Scripture must be separated from a worldly understanding to reveal a Spiritual understanding just as God separated day from night, Heaven from Earth and good from evil.

There are so many translations of the word of God that it is difficult to know where to begin or which interpretation is more correct. Remember; God has communicated with man ever since the dawn of time and the same messages were given repeatedly and verbally to each generation. He is revealing the same message today that he revealed thousands of years ago. Because God never changes he will be the same today as he was yesterday and will be tomorrow. Once God puts anything in motion it will remain in motion until the designated end. Remember; the path to seeking God is straight and direct being only one path.

God does not write letters he still communicates with man verbally and mentally. When inspired by God man will attempt to explain with a worldly understanding. I will say it again; down through the ages man has attempted to explain the Spirit of God by reference to things of the world. That was because although man was aware of the Spirit he did not have the knowledge or vocabulary to explain in more detail.

Men make mistakes and sometime his understanding is clouded by pride or by the standards of this world. Therefore one must separate self from the world and seek God in the spirit for the true understanding. The Spirit of God will never change regardless of how many times man rewrites it or explains it. It has been said; the Baptist did not like the Catholic version of the Bible so they wrote their own and so did many others including King James. The accounts of God creating Heaven and Earth were passed down from generation to generation verbally. These accounts were recorded by man according to what was told him from others and what he believed from God. This is why it
