Introduction

W ho are we? And why are we here?

Eating, sleeping, working, having fun…struggling for daily existence…is this all it is about?

Birthdays, holidays, Christmas, marriage, retirement…are these enough to satisfy our Spirit and make up a complete, full human life?

What exactly makes us human?

Our body and mind obviously differentiate us from animals and other sentient life.

We at least appear to have the ability to think and act freely and independently.

Do we use this freedom to the best of our ability?

Intelligence is the ability to be consciously aware and to make choices based on personal interpretation, freely as we see fit.

Is this really the most intelligent means available to us?

Over the thousands of years of human existence many have come to tell us that there is an easier, better way…

Spirit is not something we can see, hear, taste, smell or touch. But we can access spirit through a faculty called intuition.

Intuition is the ability to be consciously aware and to be able to imbibe, apprehend or directly know what spirit is telling us. Some of the greatest minds in science, art and music including Pythagoras, Da Vinci…Einstein have been aware of it and used it. That invisible and not easily definable Spirit within us is the source of all our inspiration, all our greatest discoveries and works of art…for ultimately it is the Source and Substance of the Whole of Creation.

It is my personal philosophy that as human beings we are here on earth for more than working for and then enjoying the material comforts. Lived only for these pleasures and other materially or bodily derived satisfactions, life soon becomes shallow and unsatisfying at a deep level…more of everything is not the answer to the deep emptiness, the restlessness and eventual irritable dissatisfaction that sooner or later surface.

Alternately the struggles to just make enough to survive and somehow make it through the toils and troubles that seem endless…is also not a satisfactory reason or a meaningful way of using the gift of life.

I believe that as living entities we are essentially made of Spirit that animates our physical bodies.

Stemming from my personal experience of enormous hardships and pain, which at times were utterly unbearable to me, yet pale into insignificance in comparison to the hardships and unfathomable sorrow that I have witnesses in people and animals all around the globe…I have come to believe that it is part of our purpose here for our minds to be opened and awakened to the presence of the spiritual dimension, the source and substance of the Soul Self within us and within all that lives…

We have become so accustomed to life silently running our bodies and all that we see in nature and the rest of the world around us, that we take this Living Intelligence for granted and think of ourselves as the doers taking credit for all that as humans we can accomplish.

It is only when something goes wrong…when the power supplied by this life force stops functioning the way we have become accustomed to expect it, that we are rudely awakened to the fact that we are not the creators of this life sustaining power and that without this essential source the whole of existence on earth would not even be here…that without this inner dimension of life, all would come to a complete stand still.

Personal and national calamities force us to become aware that as individuals we are vulnerable, fragile and individually powerless when faced with the loss of life…

These dark nights of the soul are experiences that force us to become painfully aware that there is something else that is more powerful than our individual wills.

If the impact of pain is strong enough, we stop in our tracks and question what is happening and why. The answers always come from within when the mind that identifies itself as the individual isolated personality stops long enough to hear what is beyond its own world, the ego-animated thinking, to hear the still small voice…within…

If the habitual human me-centered thinking stops long enough through anguish or voluntary self-surrender, we go through a spiritual awakening and realize that our true self is Spirit…that we are a Soul made of the same Intelligent Life that grows tiny seeds into gigantic trees and maintains the planets and stars in perfect orbits despite these incomprehensibly vast bodies being invisibly suspended out there in the infinite skies…

…then our center of awareness undergoes a tiny major shift from our personal human perspective to a Self that is by its very innermost nature all inclusive being present within all…then our previous separative thinking is replaced with Compassionate, Intuitively Thoughtful Living that encompasses ALL through the Realization of the Presence within of Love of a much higher order that just I, me and myself…

With this shift into an inner dimension, comes the Realization that since life is not and cannot be made by anything human, we are Souls clothed or made visible by the human form. When the Soul leaves or lets go of this outer appearing visibility suit, the body is so-called dead, life-less without it. But life itself is energy that cannot be extinguished or destroyed. The Soul survives, it cannot die.

No matter what happens to us in this earthly plane, no matter what hardships or sorrows we suffer something within gives us Strength to carry on…to rise from the ashes of the past and go on living…when we get beyond these painful experiences, we live as testimony to the Strength of the Spirit that resides in the very midst of the human form.

We cannot see what happens to Spirits who leave this human body and do not come back to tell us what happens in the aftermath of human life, but we do know that the lotus flower grows in muddy often dirty marshes, yet the mud or dirty water never stains it or even sticks to it. All falls off the pristine delicate pink leaves of this gentle flower as though the mud never existed. Such is the Strength invisibly present within the physical human frame: The Divine Spirit.

No mater what besails us, no matter how much pain, loss or sorrow we endure, something deep within us rises to the occasion, infusing us with Strength and Courage to get beyond whatever this world of earthly existence throws in our unknowing paths…

Know Thyself, said Socrates to understand that all seeing is a matter of the perspective from which we view the world…the dark or rose colored glass transparencies of thoughts we hold before our awareness, all distort our vision and perhaps there is another way of seeing from the Ultimate Perspective of a Love that embraces all…

For there is a Love so all-embracing that It lends meaning to every tiny gesture and nuance that this Living Presence shining outwards sees and touches with what is always within us…and then…with Its Gentle Strength shatters all darkness so we can See and Appreciate the Magic of the Glorious World Within and around us…All…

Chapter One

From the Beginning…

H ello, my name is adrianna scheibner. My life here on earth started with the awareness that an error had been made and I needed to get out, to return to where I came from…only I could not remember where I had come from or how to return. I was stuck in an infant’s body that did not respond to my commands and instead with arms flailing about helplessly and out of my apparent control, I found myself in a strange p lace….

I had no other choice than to accept the limitations and observe…

By the time I was 4 years old I had observed enough to reach the conclusion that the physical ailments plaguing people were due to the way they thought. If they just weren’t so angry, hostile or sad, they would feel better, that much was certain!

Born in Czechoslovakia at the height of the communist regime, fear was etched on people’s faces….this fear was so all-pervasive it marred everyone’s life into a tragic parody of so called freedom of the people by the people!

What to do, the answer to the relief of suffering by changing thoughts seemed quite simple, if I just learnt how, for the minds of the people who suffered seemed quite oblivious and shut off inside their own darkness, which to my child’s naive comprehension was impenetrable…getting out of the oppression of communism…well, not so simple and equally incomprehensible how some people would just decide to keep a whole country captive!!

After giving the above matters considerable pondering, musing and intense listening to hear the answers…I made a decision, which took the form of a Resolution that I would do whatever it took to escape to America where in freedom I would first live with the American Indians and then become a psychiatrist so that I could learn all that was needed to help heal the human mind of all its sorrows. To accomplish this I first had to learn how to swim in order to get to the other side of the Danube River where a stone throw away was Austria and the freedom to travel…a child’s reasoning is so simple, just difficult to carry out in real life, especially when one is only 5 and a half years old! However I took my Resolution seriously and so did not stop trying to learn to swim despite almost drowning…repeatedly!

Little did I know what in the naiveté of a child I had unleashed when I asked the Invisible Intelligence Who was my understanding of God, to help me find the means of helping people change the way they thought so they could and would be perfectly happy!!!

I was happy, blissfully happy most of my childhood roaming in the nearby forests deriving absolute joy from just observing the beautiful detail of the natural world around me…the exquisite detail of a butterfly’s wings glittering in sunshine would transport me into a world of such wonder, it enveloped and absorbed me in its gentle embrace of sheer Magic!

I expected the world outside the communist stronghold to be just like this, freedom and magic! People living in freedom would be lovely, helpful and above all supremely happy! It would be sheer joy to live with such people…then after learning how to reverse the ill will, fear and anger I would somehow return to my own people and teach them how to be so supremely happy. This was the world I longed for on a daily basis so I would be able to live the dream of healing the human mind, imagining how wonderful it will be once I get there and achieve the goal I had in mind…

Escape I did together with my family immediately after the Russian invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 emigrating to Australia where I graduated as a doctor from the University of Sydney Medical School in 1980.

But! Physician heal thyself if you want to know how to heal others!!

Looking back, I comprehend the necessity of the journey I had to undertake. In order to understand how to resolve the problems of thinking, I first had to understand how thoughts work in my own experience. This meant I had to experience, actually experience through immersion in the vast variations of thoughts and the inevitable conflicts what humanity experiences: pain, suffering, joys …the highest of the high and the lowest of the low…to the point where death seemed preferable and in fact the only solution! Not once, not twice…many times…

Healing of the human mind can be summed up in one word: COMPASSION. For it is not until we walk in someone else’s shoes…see things from their point of view that we can realize: everyone is right and justified in thinking and reacting the way they do…from their own point of view they are correct for everyone sees the world through their very own unique perspective.

The differences in the individual points of view are so vast that to bridge them seems impossible, as the history of humanity and the current state of the world attest!! YET, there is a solution. A solution that is so easy it truly defies human logic…and therein IS the solution, beyond human logic and reason: closer than hands and feet, closer than our very breath is the solution to every single problem we face today….I will show you how…
