INTRODUCTION

As we read the account of the life of Moses, one finds that he grew up in the courts of a pharaoh and was educated in all the knowledge of the Egyptians.

Acts 7:22-23

22 Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action.

23 When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his fellow Israelites. NIV

For forty years, he was trained in all the knowledge of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action. His exposure was such that he saw and understood the reality of a supernatural power that is greater than that found in the normalcy of the fleshly limitation. It is possible that this encounter in the courts of a pharaoh caused Moses to have a consciousness of the supernatural. He came to the place where after having an encounter with God, he found that there was a power greater than the power he learned in the pharaoh’s courts. God committed him to be the deliverer of the Hebrews from the Egyptian slavery. In the process, God wanted Moses to manifest that YHWH was the true God, greater than all the gods of the Egyptians and the pharaoh himself.

The biggest problem that we have in modern-day society is that we have come to the place where we do not recognize or adhere to any power or course of action that is greater than what we have experienced in our humanity. The only power that many of us can relate to is a political power, a monetary power, or a power of influence or position. We conceive of nothing being possible without logic or rational deduction. We fail to entertain the possibility that there is another realm of existence here on earth aside from what we have experienced or seen others around us experience.

An example of what I am talking about is the Nazca lines in Nazca, Peru. It is suggested that the only way that the lines could have been carved in the stone on the ground is by alien beings directing the action from the sky because the lines are only visible from the sky. I would suggest that there is another way of directing the process, and that is by an individual getting into a spiritual state where they are elevated in the sky to visually supervise the undertaking. As it is stated, that like never before, for the first time in the history of humanity, we have a generation that is less educated than its preceding generation. I would suggest to you that the same is true with the things of the spirit. We have become dull in our consciousness to the unlimited possibilities of our walk with God and His ability to move us, to do and be things that surpass our natural understandings.

It is the purpose of this book to open our minds to the possibility that there is power which is greater than what we experience in a political power, a monetary power, or a power of influence or position. We will observe the testimony of former witch doctors who explain their ability to surpass the ability of human flesh and perform feats that would defy imagination, yet they could not surpass the power available to the born-again child of God. This power is available to those of us who walk with the true and living God. When we read the account of Jesus passing through a crowd of angry Jews intent on stoning him, we see the manifestation of a supernatural power here on earth. We can read the account of Phillip, after baptizing the Ethiopian eunuch, being caught away by the Spirit. (The words caught away in Greek is heerpasen, used of divine power transferring a person marvelously and swiftly from one place to another, to snatch or catch away [from Thayer’s Greek Lexicon].)
