Forgotten Dreams - Crystal Lynn Bradford
FROM THE SOUL…
Deep in the shadows
There lays an ancient path
That leads pass a darkened tomb
Across the lake of despair
Beyond the valley of dead roses
And wilted petals
That were once soft and red
Pass the hollow echoes that fade
Away into the dust
And resemble all absent
Thoughts of love
Beneath every pebble
And across the starry night
When the moon is orange
And the clouds are grey
The ancient path
Reveals its hidden secret
To the eyes of MAN
Forgetting all properties
Of Nature
And breaking the rules
That MAN and Nature
Created to maintain a
Subtle bond—
It is as forbidden as
The apple Eve gave to Adam
Or the fire that Prometheus
Shared with his fellow people
And spent eternity in agony.
When the Harvest Moon arises in
The sky the waterfall by
The old willow tree
Begins to slowly part
And behold the eye of Mother
Earth herself comes into sight
Brilliant and big yet beautiful
And terrifying.
She is no Medusa; one glance cannot
Turn you into stone
No, rather it vanquishes the pain
From her bosom and
Drowns your soul in all the
Wrongs that we as human beings
Have done to her
Her single eye so gorgeous—
The color of amethyst
With thick black lashes
And smooth tan skin
Blended perfectly with the
Dirt beneath
Her single tear made the river
Flood
With grief and sorrow
A certain pity for humankind
And at the same moment
That pain infused her
With regret and suffering
The mere fact that this
Beauty was being destroyed
Was enough to break the human
Heart
And sympathize
As this mystical birth
Was a mere paradox
For untimely demise
And the cruelty
That what Mother earth
Created was going
To slowly murder her
Without remorse—
Slow, shallow suffocation
Through pollution
Toxic and unbearable
Providing open wounds upon
Her divine flesh
Gazing at her body
Blood nothing but ash
To which we breathe in
Thus she tires in her dying
Glory
To still heave her mark
Upon us
Tempting to flaunt what
Beauty still remains
Providing some sanity
And tranquility
Giving us a piece of mind
And inspirational thought
As we leave her empty
Like a forbidden lover
Bound to secrecy
Never to be seen again
By the same daunting eyes
That seduced her
Proving her to be nothing
But a factor of lust
As we tear open wounds
And become the tormenters
To this—
She is the beauty that surrounds our world
And we abuse her
Leaving bruises on her body
Tears across her skin
Bite marks upon her neck
Like the egotistical vampire
We drain the life out of
Her and gloat—
We do not see it
Not until we look into
Her eye
And see with all physical
Apparition
The innocent water we call
Tears
Falling from her very soul
That we realize as divine
And beautiful that she is
We have tarnished her heart
To make ourselves more
Comfortable—
To simply feel alive.
FOREVER MORE # 3
The brightest light
is surrounded by darkness
the easiest love
is long overcome by lust
and everything ends in pain
and mistrust,
but if we could overthrow
these shadows
and secretly let light grow
maybe then the happiness
of people will find a way
to walk upon the walls
and if there be pain of any sort
the optical illusions that you’ll see
will be all the romance with me
but yet so soon forgotten
and your core of golden bliss
will soon be rotten
so keep me with you in your heart
to carry you when you are weak
pick up the pieces that fell apart
from me forever more
and forever more be complete.
LOST AT SEA…
the pages that held me to you
have been torn and frayed
your diary burnt, your poetry gone
time to sing the tragic song…
but that seems to be the
