He Is My Companion

About this ebook
He Is My Companion leads us through a journey of finding deliverance and ultimately restoration. It traces the lives of several men in the Bible such as Moses, David, Joseph, and Christ, who experienced hardship and persecution before Gods deliverance and elevation. As God allowed these men to have a wilderness experience and go through a period of suffering, so does he allow it to happen to us. He Is My Companion teaches us the process that God takes us through as he allows us to endure pain, devastation, and ultimately exaltation. It also teaches us how God sheds us of the undesirable characteristics that prevent us from being like Christ, while he promotes character, stamina, spiritual development, and maturity. Each chapter challenges and encourages self-evaluation, aids in understanding, and clearly identifies the stages of promotion before and after exaltation.
Finally, although this book is written with the more mature Christian in mind, it may be read and embraced by individuals who desire to grow, develop, and establish a more intimate relationship with Christ.

They are truly a gift from God and I love them so very much. I would also like to dedicate this book to my ex-husband Thomas D. Roney who has been a wonderful part of my life. My prayers are that he receives the desires of his heart and may God bless him abundantly.
FOREWORD
Pastor/ Reverend Matthew Southall Brown, Sr.
Pastor Emeritus, St. John Baptist Church: Savannah, Georgia.
I am indeed delighted to write this forward for a book that is needed in this day and time when people think there is a quick fix to everything including their sins. But this book, He Is My Companion,
challenges readers to discover that God is always true. For in this book, the readers will learn of men and women whom God delivered, not quickly, but in His time. This book will also tell its readers improvement starts with I,
One’s own self. WHEN IMPROVEMENT COMES, AND FORGIVENESS IS DELIVERED THROUGH JESUS, THE CHRIST, we must, stick and stay,
and learn of his unlimited love.
I have known the author, Elizabeth S. Roney since she was a very young woman. In fact, I pastored her family for almost 35 years. Having performed her marriage, baptized and licensed her into the ministry, I watched her grow and glow into the office of God. Additionally, I dedicated and baptized both of her children and watched them flourish into the young women they are today.
The readers of this book will be glorified, edified and sanctified. I defy anybody to read this book and not be encouraged.
PREFACE
He is My Companion walks us through the process of becoming a new Christian as we develop and continuously lead a spirit led life. As a Christian, it is important to rid ourselves of old and past issues that prevent us from becoming productive Christians that God has chosen us to be. Furthermore, it is imperative that we develop into people of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, mature, strong and courageous, people that are committed to seeking God with all of our hearts.
This book leads us though the process of brokenness to a place of wholeness and ultimately productivity. It is God’s desire that we be made whole; however, as he produces fruit inside of us, we must go forth and serve the purpose he has ordained for us.
Although we may think we have a meaningful purpose, God has a bigger purpose, plan and future for our lives. As we humble ourselves and submit to his sovereign will, we will begin to see him unfold his autonomous plan. Furthermore, this book teaches us the importance of humbling ourselves before the Lord with a pure heart, and obtaining true victorious living as we go through trials, tribulations, hardships and finally, restoration.
INTRODUCTION
In today’s society, we struggle with many hardships, difficulties and pain because of a lack of knowledge, but He is My Companion leads us through a journey of finding deliverance and ultimately restoration. As this book leads us through this journey, perhaps you will find that it is tailored more for individuals whom God is called for greatness, but many of these principles can be applied to even those of us who want to serve God. This book traces the lives of many of the men in the bible who experienced great hardships and persecutions before God delivered and later exalted them to a place of authority.
As you read each chapter, you will discover that the heart of deliverance begins with oneself. In order for us to truly be set free, we must humble ourselves and surrender to the will of God. Surrendering is such a challenging task we often struggle with. Furthermore, obtaining our deliverance is difficult because we refuse to submit to the will of Christ. Moreover, we repeatedly go through trials over and over again because we do not understand that in this Christian life we must trust God with all of our hearts, walk in obedience and submission to the will of Christ.
CHAPTER 1
CLEAN UP YOUR HOUSE
When cleaning the home, one must get rid of all of the dirt, grease and grime; yes, everything that adds clutter into the home. While cleaning the home, it is imperative that one dig really deep into the walls of the home to rid it of everything that is meaningless. Likewise in the spirit, we must clean our home, the earthly vessel that we live in. Before we clean our temples, it is essential to perform a few tasks in order to determine who we are. This step by step process will require us to establish a relationship with our father, husband, redeemer and our maker; thus, we must condition ourselves in getting rid of the clutter. Cleaning the home both naturally and spiritually can be an arduous and difficult task. Oftentimes, when cleaning, we become distracted and sometimes lose sight of those things we must do to obtain natural and spiritual cleansing.
1 Corinthians 3:16 states: Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (KJV)
Notice that Paul makes a statement, yet he also makes this proclamation as if he is asking a question informing us of who we are as children of God. Let us make it clear that Paul is talking to the church. Therefore, if you are reading this book and have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, I admonish you to take a moment, repent of your sins, acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior, then subsequently invite the Holy Spirit to take up residence in your life. Once you have done this, you have taken the initial step to cleaning up your home.
In reference to 1 Corinthians 3:16; we must first understand that God lives inside of us. We are his temple. My body, your body is that suite that houses the Spirit of God. Before we move on, let us first understand what is a temple? A temple holds something or some things. According to Websters’ Collegiate Dictionary, it is an edifice used for religious exercises, a place devoted to a special purpose. In the Greek, a temple means to dwell (Na jō). A temple is a holding station that is designed for a specific purpose. It is used for religious exercises. That is what your body should be used for.
Now the Spirit of God dwells inside of you. Dwell, according to Websters’ Collegiate Dictionary means to live in a resident, exist, to tarry; therefore, God wants to live in each of us. So, in order for Him to live in each of us, we must invite Him to come into our lives, take up residence and continuously exercise his presence within us through living a life pleasing and acceptable to his will daily. This can only be accomplished if we are saved and consistently rely on him to emanate in our lives.
As God comes in, we must allow God to make us holy and pleasing before him. Therefore, we must understand we are his temple, a holding place for the Spirit of God to live in. In order for us to really understand who we are in Christ Jesus, we must understand the precious cargo that we are carrying inside of us. As we walk, as we move, we are carrying a rare commodity, someone desired to hold and have inside of us. One illustration maybe of a woman that is pregnant, carrying her unborn infant. The fetus is housed inside of
