Coleman encourages readers by describing “this place with God,” a phrase she uses often to denote a believer’s personal relationship with God as a safe and comforting space in the midst of an often cold and cruel human reality. This “place” is characterized by four main qualities: acceptance, forgiveness, victory, and purpose. The author is careful to explain throughout her work that even though these qualities are often lacking in the world, the believer can be confident of possessing them within “this place,” this relationship with God. For instance, other people may or may not accept others for who they are, and any approval may come and go. Nevertheless, God loves and accepts individuals no matter what—his love is unconditional. Likewise, “outside of this place with God, forgiveness is never guaranteed nor is at all possible, depending on what has occurred.” In relationship to God, however, “Jesus was crucified on the cross so that you could experience the benefits of true forgiveness.” In an imperfect world, Coleman explains, believers can find a place of perfect peace with God. Throughout the book, the author deftly utilizes specific Scriptures and biblical stories to stress her point. For instance, Coleman underlines the tale of Joseph’s relationship with his brothers in the chapter on forgiveness; she highlights the story of David and Goliath in the chapter on victory. The author’s writing is lucid and approachable, and her tone and subject matter should bring encouragement to those battling with everything from troublesome family members to difficult job situations.

Introduction

No matter where life takes you, there is acceptance, forgiveness, victory, and purpose in this place with God. There are numerous things to do, places to go, and people to see from when you get up until when you lie down at the end of the day. To just be and exist in life can sometimes seem overwhelming because there is so much to take in and consider within twenty-four hours. Time is always of the essence because every day that passes is time that you can never get back. Once the day is over, the next day occurs. Distractions can be easily encountered at home, work, school, and everywhere in between, leading you to pose numerous questions. Will these people like me? Can I get past the hurt and move on? How can I get this done? What is my purpose in life? I offer you the answer to these questions, which is in this place with God.

Being in this place with God provides you with a safe shelter from everything that tries to keep you from enjoying life and overcoming difficult situations. This place is a constant shield from the many darts thrown at you. For the dart of rejection and insecurity, there is acceptance in this place with God. There is forgiveness in this place with God for the dart of betrayal, hurt, and disappointment. There is victory in this place with God for the dart of difficult or challenging situations.

You can find comfort and stability in this place with God regardless of where and who you are with. Nothing and no one can deprive you of being in this place with God. God is ever ready to be anything that you need in every situation of your life. In this book, I want to take you on a personal journey of being in this place with God through finding your place of acceptance, forgiveness, purpose, and victory in life. I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time out of your busy life to read what God has laid on my heart to share with you in this book. I pray that you will be encouraged to know that there is no better place to be than in this place with God!

Prayer of Salvation

There are so many opportunities to become frustrated and discouraged in the world due to the many pressures of life. Only God can offer you the consistent stability that cannot be found in people and material things in this world. The ability to communicate with God and experience inner peace amid daily situations and challenges is available to you through the gift of salvation. To know that you have an advocate in God who will never leave your side no matter how many mistakes you make, regardless of what the storms of life may bring, is priceless. It gives you peace. God made this inner peace and everlasting companionship available to you through the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Through Jesus, the gift of salvation is forever waiting for you, no matter where you are. Salvation is God’s precious gift to you, one you can accept or deny. Accepting salvation offers a new beginning where you begin to rely on God for everything concerning your well-being. It doesn’t mean you will no longer face challenges but it does mean that you no longer have to face these challenges alone. Through Jesus, you can go to God and receive help in your most vulnerable moments no matter what is going on. You have a safe haven always surrounding you no matter where you are in life. It doesn’t matter what has happened to
