About this ebook

Since the use of Prepositions is one of the most difficult parts of the English language for an ESL student, Ogrinc saw the necessity to create a series of booklets to help better understand the unusual logic in their application in a variety of instances. By going through these pages of exercises, the learner will gradually discover the pattern of usage. It is hoped by the end of the booklet, the use of these common English words will become clearer.

    To the ESL Student

Prepositions in this exercise booklet are used both as prepositions and as adverbs.

Example: The dog ran down the hill. (preposition)

The vase was knocked down. (adverb)

At the top of each page are the prepositions to be used on that particular page only. Some are used more than once. The structure and meaning of certain sentences would sometimes require other prepositions as well such as:

The child ran across (in, over, about, around, etc) the field.
