About this ebook

"Wedding Anniversary is a play 70 percent of women and girls worldwide can relate with. It is an interesting story of love and hate that cuts across countries and cultures. The shocking intrigues women go through are illustrated in this play. It is bigger than me" (Islammiyah Saudique).

Married as a virgin to the first man who won her heart, Teemah never thought marriage to her prince charming could be an agonizing experience. Kicked, tortured, humiliated, and raped until she was pushed to the wall. Her heart could no longer hold her pain. Does love need to hurt? When love hurts, who pays? And what's the price?

Despite being a pathetic story of what women go through, Wedding Anniversary also tells the humorous story of Bella and her lazy fianc, Donald.

Rihanna, Teemah's friend is beautiful, full of life, single, and searching. How best to plan a wedding? You may need to consult Rihanna. And what does she have in common with Biodun, Teemah's brother? Bad breath? No. They are both single and ready to mingle.

This is a hard-to-put-down play.

Get ready to laugh, get ready to be angry, get ready to be educated, and get ready to be entertained.

    About The Author

    Author’s Note

Wedding Anniversary is a play most women and girls worldwide can relate to. It is an interesting story of love and hate. It tells our story as women; the cross-cultural story of many women told with facts and humour, coupled with the struggles, challenges, triumphs and intrigues women go through in their daily lives. This compelling story reveals in a well-nuanced manner that love doesn’t have to hurt.

    - Islammiyah Saudique.

To my late mum, my love for you lives forever even though you are no longer with us. My girls and my son; with you my life is good and to all women and young girls all over the world, always remember love doesn’t have to hurt.

And to Almighty Allah; even my life I dedicate to You.

This is a mercy from my Lord.

    An excellent Trustee is Thee.

    Special Thanks

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. —Maya Angelou.

I would like to express my gratitude to the Publishing Team at AuthorHouse UK, especially Alexa Navaro, Emmanuelle Daan, Pete Anthony, Eugene Libres and Divine Tadle; for championing this publication, for their endless calls and emails for over a year just to let me tell this story. I thank the team for being very patient with me, for seeing me through this book; for offering useful suggestions, editing, proofreading, designing and publishing this book eventually.

I wandered for 7 years, totally lost and afraid if I will ever write again. I was in what one of my mentors, a writer and lecturer, Mrs Tope Olaifa called ‘creative recession.’ It was scary not being certain I will come out of it. My utmost appreciation goes to those who stood by me, because they believe in me.

I thank Imam Uthman Jaji, for his unwavering support; Imam Jaji, jazakumllahu Khayran for your fatherly prayers.

My gratitude goes to my readers, friends and colleagues who never stopped asking, Islammiyah when are you writing another book? Do you still write?

I say a massive big thanks to my social media fans and friends; especially the very good ones whom I’ve known for years, yet not met in person; who have continual faith in me; support me and cheer me on. I am indebted to you. You have no idea how much I appreciate you.

To my sister from another mother, my best friend and confidant, Adenike Anifowose, for being so beautiful, wonderful, kind and loyal; for always being there to listen to my rants; thank you Arike.

Special thanks to my family; my spouse, Taofeeq Barry. He’s the best critic I know; always charging me to up my game and remain focussed; a very good man with incredible dreams. Thank you Barry, for your love and care. And my kids, a new life began for me when I met you; and with you, my life is good. Thank you Aisha, Ahmad and Aminah for the distractions; I probably needed them to take necessary break, eat popcorn, drink tea, take a walk, and that really helped. You are the best, I am a very lucky mom.

Last but not the least: I thank you, readers and fans, for choosing this book.
