About this ebook

The story of mans evolution revolves round a twist of primitiveness and civilization in successive cycles permeated by intolerance, dominance, horror, wars, and death. Hardly is there any time in the history of man that there is no war or conflict of some sort. Peace has largely eluded man.
The book Broken Lamp is a collection of poems which captures the state of our world; a world besieged by greed, aggression, materialism, idolatry, dominance and bloodshed. It brings to the fore the intrigues of the course of humanity severely perverted and on a path to collision and catastrophe, and there seems to be no relief in sight.
In Broken Lamp, the author attempts to X-ray the contused face of our world. The result shows broken pieces of bones mixed with shreds of flesh and clotted blood. The diagnosis is clinically tagged brokenness. The prescription is a mind- mending therapy coated with songs and packaged in a 146 page recipe labelled Broken Lamp. Would you want to help our world out of the chaos? Then read this piece of literary tonic and impressive poetic masterpiece.

    Acknowledgements

The joy of knowing you are loved, needed, and cherished makes you happy and makes you want to do more and be more. I owe a debt of gratitude to all who have shown me love, companionship, and friendship. I wish I can be all that they want me to be. I appreciate all who have asked, ‘What are you writing?’ when I denied them attention because of these writings, or when I disrupted their sleep with scrambling on the sheets of papers or the sounds or noise from the keyboard as I punched my tiny fingers hard on the stubborn buttons. And to those who lost their appetite when their meals cooled while waiting for me. They make the world that I live and write; in a way, they write with me.

I acknowledge all who have written before, whose works have inspired me and many other people. And to all the upcoming writers, whose writings will shape the world and the future of mankind. I thank all the ‘pen scrappers’ who seek out and write the wonderful headlines on the pages of newspapers, magazines, and journals. They gather the news and share the stories, some breaking and some non-breaking news. They all have contributed to what I am and what I write. I am grateful to them and to those who will not let these poems gather dust in the bookshelves but will read and memorize and share with others.

Let me also appreciate and applaud the expertise and professional touches of the team of editors from Partridge Africa for the meticulous scrutiny,
