About this ebook

Five years ago, I, the dark magician Ente von Ino Lock, took over the kingdom of Elektra. As one of the most powerful magicians in the world, nobody dared to stop me.
And then, one day, someone did. A thirteen-year-old girl, the former princess of Elektra, a magician herself. She challenged me to battle, to try and win back her country. How hard could it be to defeat a teenager?
Never underestimate an opponent. Especially not thirteen-year-old Kerryl Violette Royale.
This is the story of my defeat. The story of how an age-old prophecy was fulfilled. The story of the Enchantress of Elektra.

Enchantress of Elektra - Kaivallya Dasu

    Chapter 1

    Oh, No…

A month ago, I met an old childhood friend, a Nagical I hadn’t met in years. He lived on the other side of the world and had come over for a visit when we ran into each other.

Ente! So nice to see you. How are you?

I said that I was fine- health wise, but could have been better professionally. He demanded to know what had happened. I told him the story of the battle.

"You actually lost?" he asked in disbelief.

I lost the battle. This book has a sad ending for me. But you will find it a very happy ending. That is, from your point of view. In all your books, the good guy always wins. Righteousness, Truth, Order, Ma’at, Un-chaos (though I’ve never heard of that), whatever you call it… always triumphs. It is the same in this book. Be assured, you will like the ending of this book. I am the protagonist. It is from my point of view. But this time, the antagonist wins… because, as you would say, I am the evil guy.

I really like this beginning. So dramatic. I would love to elaborate upon it. The problem is, a story can’t be only a beginning. It needs a middle and an end. The other problem is that my enemy, probably convinced that I am defeated forever, is going on a campaign. I must disrupt it, and time is getting on. I may have lost the battle I am about to narrate, but I will not be defeated next time, and as the villains always say… MWAHAHAHA! Okay, that evil laugh doesn’t work so well in a book.

Now, I’ll start my story. Ahem.

I am the dark sorcerer, Ente von Ino Lock, pronounced En-tay, okay? Please note: my initials spell EVIL. I ruled what was once the kingdom of Elektra.

Before, it had been ruled by the Royale family. Using my magic, I became king and banished the Royales. I also changed the name of the kingdom to the Black Forest. No, no, not the cake. I hate chocolate and cake… and other sweet things.

    Chapter 2

    Four Years of Ruling

Ruling Elektra was great. I was the boss- well, mostly. My four sisters bossed me around because… never mind, we’ll get to that later.

Elek- I mean, Black Forest, is a pretty small kingdom. There’s a main town, with shops and houses and schools. I’ve been there only a few times. It is bordered by really tall hills to the north. On the other side of this range are some other kingdoms, then the sea. Then there’s the forest, which forms a natural border for other three sides of the kingdom.

The forest is home to various animals. Many are your normal ones- squirrels, chipmunks, various types of birds and so on. However, there are also a couple of magical species. Deep in the forest live a community of drinis, and rumour has it that a herd of ilinas live somewhere there too. A drini is a talking tiger with wings and an ilina is a cross between a horse and a fish. This may sound awkward, but they’re very graceful creatures.

The first year, I was completely happy just having fun and relaxing, though the first week was a bit shaky. The second year, I got down to business. The palace had nothing of interest for magicians, except for an enormous library. No drini homes, no proper magicians’ conference room, nothing. Instead, horse stables, conference rooms with some flat thing on the wall called a ‘TV’, and a bunch of huge tunnels underground known as ‘emergency exits’. Of course, I immediately started to work on the remodeling of the palace. I got the tunnels connected, the TV removed and the horse stables made into drini homes. By the dawn of the third year, everything about the palace was perfect.

The third year was fun. It didn’t rain too heavily, so the air didn’t smell of wet earth, which I don’t like in the least. The crops still grew well, and the cook made delicious food. I found out that the forest was very dark, because of the cloudy sky I ordered for most of the week. And because of the darkness, I could get lovely black raisins, made from black grapes- not purple ones from purple grapes, or even gold ones from green grapes, which are the worst.

The fourth year was the peak of my rule. My subjects stopped grumbling, the crops grew better than ever, the forest was at its darkest, the sky at its cloudiest, the raisins became pitch-black, my cook and first cousin, Spatulia, made the best food ever. I should have known it was too good to last.

During those four years, the Royales didn’t attempt an attack, nor did the subjects try to start a revolution to overthrow me. No other king tried to invade the kingdom. Overall, everything was too neat. I am sad to admit, I didn’t think much of it. They’re far too scared of my power. Even when I was recuperating from the wounds taken during the battle, I would have been powerful. Nobody dares to attack Ente von Ino Lock, one of the twenty best dark magicians in the world, directly descended from Etren, the best of the thirteen founders of magic! I thought proudly.

Not such a good idea to think I was safe. Luckily, my sisters are amazing spies. They missed nothing which was actually good, or otherwise… I’d have lost the battle in the first two seconds; literally two seconds.

    Chapter 3

    The News

I was relaxing on my throne. It was a beautiful, cloudy day. Of course, on my orders to the W.A.N.D., only Sundays are sunny, because there’s a ‘sun’ in the word. Even then, this particular day was darker… the sky over Black Forest was almost… black. From my castle on the hill, I could see little gold dots in the houses below, lanterns hung up in the rooms, apparently because there was a ‘power cut’ and there was no ‘electricity’. It looked quite nice, so I didn’t extinguish them, as I could have.

My sister, Armen, floated into the room, her long black and gold robes covering her feet. Stopping in front of me, she rose higher into the air. Armen is all the ministers in a court put together. She’s allowed to boss me around. She’s also seven years older than me.

She looked down at me and put her hands on her hips, her hazel eyes flashing with anger.

Ente, you are in big trouble, she said, in a soft, menacing voice, the one that always made me think, Uh-oh.

What trouble, Armen? I asked nervously. Even though I’m a ruler, I can get into trouble with my sisters. They all look a lot like me- black hair, pale skin, a hawk-like nose- which is rather unfortunate, in my opinion. It makes all the lectures they give me seem almost like lectures from slightly altered reflections of myself.

Benat is waiting for you to do the planning for your fair. You were supposed to go to her office half an hour ago. In an hour you have a conference with Cedra and Derna and if you don’t work on planning the magician’s fair you wanted for at least an hour today, Benat and I will cancel it. Understand? There was something in Armen’s eyes that really freaked me out. The cold look she was giving me was freezing. She was tall and thin and at the moment, looked exactly like a stereotyped stern governess in a dark magician’s robes.

Can’t I do the plan work later today? I asked hopefully.

"No. Your conference with Cedra and Derna will continue until dinner, and after that is your
