AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY
AS a youngster, I grew up in a poor family. We didn’t have much for entertainment, so storytelling became one way of passing time. My storytelling skills were sharpened during my first job. I worked in a small crew of field sprayers and our radio never worked well, so conversation and storytelling became a fun way to fill the void. During this time, I noticed that short and sweet
seemed to be more appealing.
As I was writing my memoirs, I accidentally stumbled across a fun new way of writing. It makes it easier to write a story within a story. I used this new way of writing in my book, The Prophet Mark TruStone. Read it and it might change the way you write your memoirs. I hope you find my writing enjoyable as well as informative.
BOOK SUMMARY
A fun new way of writing memoirs that makes it easier to write a story within a story. It is filled with short stories that have happened throughout my life. Some of the stories are a little hard to believe, and some of them are still unsolved mysteries. Perhaps the truth behind some of the mysteries will be solved and revealed. I hope you have as much fun reading The Prophet Mark TruStone as I had writing it.
PREFACE
MOST of the contents of this book are true except for the names, the sermon about the helicopter, the rescue boat, and a few other details that were written to the best of my memory. Some of the foul language has been edited.
CHAPTER ONE
MY YOUTH
Introduction
AFTER years of research and undercover work, I have finally written my life’s work, my flesh and blood. I was going to wait until I was older to write my memoirs, but some very incredible things have happened and I need this book for a fundraiser.
Sometimes it is easier to stop ourselves from doing unwise things by watching examples of people who are doing unwise things. This book contains episodes that I’ve witnessed for myself that may illustrate some of the bad things that happen when we sin.
After having read the Bible several times, I noticed there have been a lot of prophets in the past who have warned people that if they don’t stop sinning, the Lord will destroy them. When Jonah was swallowed by a great fish and taken to Nineveh to tell the king repent or be destroyed, I’ve always wondered what the king and his people did to make the Lord angry enough to destroy them. Much the same as Jonah, these times may be upon us as well. Maybe many of us were seduced into foolish things with porn on the Internet and some of the garbage on television or radio, but nonetheless it’s better to repent than to continue on the path of ruin.
Brief Family History
GRANDPA TruStone, with his brother, migrated from Germany before World War I when he was fourteen years old. He later got married, farmed a section of land, and had many children—most of whom went back to Germany to fight Hitler and the Nazis. My oldest uncle did well and claims to have shot more than one Nazi with an M-1 rifle. The war against Hitler and the Nazis was the bloodiest war ever fought, with an estimated eleven million men, women, and children killed under Hitler’s insane quest for a supreme human race. Grandpa TruStone died shortly after I was born, so I never got to know him very well.
Grandpa Meyer was born in Iowa, bought a farm in Minnesota, got married, and had three kids. Grandpa was content to stay indoors and watch television in his later years. Shortly before Grandpa Meyer died, my family and I went to visit him in the old folk’s home. The one thing he said that stays with me is that nothing heals when you get really old. He then held up his hand and showed us an injury he got in a car accident months ago, and, sure enough, it never healed.
The Day I Was Brought Into the World
ON November 7, 1966, I was born, brought into the world just as any other boy by my parents John and Patricia TruStone. They named me Mark TruStone. The words have an English origin, Mark meaning a strong urge of independence
and TruStone meaning acceptance of reality.
A few weeks later, I was baptized in a Methodist church. I had two older brothers and an older sister. Their names are,
