About this ebook

The owl gazed at Reggie, who by now was totally captivated by the presence of the creature. The owl rocked its head from side to side, as it peered down between the swaying branches at him. Suddenly it took to its wing and flew a short way along the foot-path, leading Reggie further away from the canal tow-path. Settling on the branch of another tree a little farther on, it stared back at Reggie, now obsessed with the creature it, seeming to want him to follow it. He became curious of the owls appearance and presence. Though it had moved away from the light, its eyes still shone brightly. The owl continued to move further along the path-way, with Reggies insatiable curiosity requiring him to follow it he, continually being led away from the tow-path by the creature.

Chris J Berry

Since writing the first of his books, the author’s main objective adheres to his plan to try and help the creatures and people of our planet. Gazing across the world, nothing seems to change, with conflict the continuing trend on earth. Societies descend into violent confrontation, with factions fragmenting into smaller dependencies rather than seek to unite the nations of our world. Global weather extremes continue to fuel humanitarian crises, destroy food harvests, and desecrate their crop areas. The theme of this twelfth project, The View from Infinity, the sixth in the series A Voyage to Infinity, seeks to expand on the author’s suppositions of what the life beyond offers in the previous books. The introductions in this series, the author hopes, will provide clues that ask us to view life logically and consider the transience of life, our inevitable exit from it, and what that means in terms of the material wealth we strive to generate. Considering those factors establishes one fact—that nothing in the material world belongs to anyone—and poses the question, which then is the real world? He persists in his belief that the demise facing humanity can only be addressed by a united world. Remaining dedicated toward our Maker’s doctrines, the author seeks to abide by his ten laws to guide his life.

    Introduction

IN ALL THE INTRODUCTIONS to my books, and in particular the voyage to infinity series, it must have become obvious to my readers from where I believe the source of my inspiration arises. It does not intimidate me that the spiritual source is generally considered a fantasy. For those who are able to look at life logically, as I have done, I have suggested in previous books that we focus on two irrefutable facts in life none of us can avoid— the transience of, and our inevitable exit from the material existence. If viewed with an open mind, it is my hope that it may lead one to appreciate the ideas that have been discussed in all my books.

During the séance I attended as a teenager, back in nineteen fifty nine, it was prophesised then that I would write books. How I was to receive this information was confusing at the time; my parents telling me it would come intuitively. Not sharing the firm beliefs they held in spiritualism, I paid little attention to their enthusiastic submissions on the topic. Unable to breach my scepticism, I submitted doubts on their hypothesis that I had been chosen. To add to my scepticism the deficit in my education, due mainly to illness dogging me through my early years, had cast a shadow over any future literary ability, as well as the realisation that as I grew older, there would be fewer career opportunities to fund my writing.

When the desire to write eventually became obsessive, my parents convinced me that the message, I had received back in the séance of fifty nine, was now manifesting to reality. Resorting to evening classes, I eventually achieved a level of education that produced a modest literary ability in me to begin writing. It was then I realised that the need to research items became unnecessary— the stories coming in the intuitive way my parents said they would. The themes of the books are all related to spirituality, and seek to direct us to the life beyond, but also focus on Earth’s ecology by drawing our attention to the pollution affecting the environment from our technology.

Believing now, in later life, that Celestial entities are guiding my hand, their presence has taken on a definitive meaning for me. It was as if I was reading the stories rather than creating them, as my sources divulged fantasies to me, using real events that littered Earth’s past up to the present. Within the transcripts of these stories my sources relate ideas on the meaning of our lives here on Earth, and how it is connected to the spiritual existence out in the multiple, universal dimensions. Accepting that some entity or entities were writing through me, it did not escape my attention, that because of general belief, the lack of proof would make people reluctant to accept my hypothesis. Throughout history, ecclesiastical clerics have submitted transcripts, and left it to those who read them to postulate over the validity of their content. The purpose for submitting my books, I believe is different, simply seeking to share with others my experiences, and those ideas that have been handed down to me.

During the past when I have tried to change aspects of a story, as occurred in the third book of the Cyannian Trilogy ‘Avataria’, the inspiration ceased until I returned to the original, intuitively given theme. As a result of that event, it caused me to contemplate the nature of my source’s submissions on the life beyond, and how it appeared to be far less complicated than that of the material life. Once returning to the spiritual world beyond, I sensed from them that our Maker came into view— the need to breach our free-will to recognise Him as fact, no longer necessary.

As I continue on with the voyage to infinity series, it has become a living entity to me. How all the information that has been amassed in past books, progressively reveals the idea that the real world is the one beyond. My conclusions have arisen from my parents asking me to look at the material life logically in light of those two, previously mentioned irrefutable facts. After studying those facts, it raised the revelation in me that nothing in the physical world belongs to anyone. We enter it with nothing, leave it with nothing, and then are limited to that speck of time we refer to as ‘three score and ten’ to achieve our goals in life. Now as I cross the threshold into the twilight years, I have learnt that the essential truths of the material existence are all around us, and can gradually come into perspective, if or when, we open our minds to the world beyond… CJB.

    Preface

NOW IN THE closing stages of their voyage to infinity, Vicky and Jamie stand at the threshold of the mentoring task of a virgin spirit. Having viewed life from the edge of infinity, they have seen that the physical realm stretches away into a vast dimension, with countless universes where the material life within them differs only in the time state.

This last task of monitoring a new born spirit on the Purlieusian physical plane begins as it enters it’s incarnate period. Aware of the threat from the Evil One and his legions, because of the support for Simon’s successful bid for redemption, Vicky and Jamie prepare for the worst scenario. The Evil One airs a personal determination that he will have the soul of their young spirit, having made no secret of that during past audiences with them.

The scene is set, and Vicky and Jamie turn their eyes from the view from infinity to gaze, once again, on the Purlieusian material plane as it moves into its second era. A second reset there is a mere smudge on its Celestial Horizon— the Infinite One’s patience on a physical plane once again to be put to the test. Vicky’s and Jamie’s knowledge of the challenges their young spirit will face is of no consolation, as the vitally important first move must come from the incarnate soul.

From their amassed spiritual knowledge, an intimidating notion dogs them, sensing them with the feeling that they are destined to venture in to the Evil One’s dark realm to counsel their young spirit— the topic they have been counselled on themselves by their kindred, proven spirit Simon.

    Chapter One

    A Touch of Innocence

    ~1~

THE PLANET PURLIEUS, NOW settled into its second era, glowed majestically through its hazy blue aura. It’s serene appearance however, could not conceal from Vicky and Jamie the diversity of the material lifestyles it’s inhabitants were destined to bring upon it. To them, gazing down upon it through the Celestial window: to desecrate such beauty seemed an affront to it’s creator. Drawing on their immense spiritual experience, both knew that the human process would exact an inevitable toll on this world’s environment.

Vicky and Jamie looked down on their young spirit. Enshrouded in it’s cocoon of light, once it’s period of uterogestation was complete, it would be released into the snake-pit. It unnerved them when peering across the young soul’s Celestial Horizon, noting a dense, dark cloud looming beyond it’s infant to primary years. Preying upon Jamie’s mind was the Evil One’s threat he had directed towards their young spirit. As with all newborn incarnate souls, their virgin spirit would emerge in a state of profound innocence. Vicky and he, reflected on the sincerity of it’s pledge to adhere to all they had taught it— but in sight of that dark threat, that soul’s profound innocence now seemed so fragile.

Nothing changed on the physical planes— free-will, the supreme challenge that awaited all incarnate souls. Briefly touched with innocence, the virgin soul’s voyage would begin to reflect the lifestyle existing in the society it had been born into. The Infinite One had lifted the weight of responsibility off Vicky and Jamie, satisfied they had performed their part during the spirit’s counselling period. Now the onus fell upon the soul’s parent hosts on Purlieus. Teaching it the essential truth of life they had to go further, and apprise it of the importance of making that first move to recognise the Infinite One while on the material plane. Locked in the virgin spirit’s subconscious lay the means to contact it’s guides Vicky and Jamie. With clues of how to achieve that visible on the physical plane— faith in the Infinite One was all that was required.

Though safe within the Celestial Realm, Vicky and Jamie were unable to completely suppress the feeling of unease for their soul— every move it was destined to make would touch upon their gentle natures. Though this new venture brought with it concerns for another, the Infinite One’s trust in them to carry it out signified they had stepped up a rung on the Celestial Ladder. It sensed them with the knowledge that having gained the right to access Galactica Eternal, one did not simply rest on one’s laurels, but moved forward to claim the promise of the Great Spiritual Adventure, and to work eternally for the Infinite One.

Over the months leading up to the birth of their young spirit, Vicky sensed it’s parent hosts’ excitement on the prospect of approaching parenthood. Chosen by the Infinite One as part of the team on the material plane, the future looked rosy for them. But there were so many threats that could thwart the plan; covert influences that could effectively deny them the means to address the challenges meeting their child.

Vicky sensed a presence close by them, and peered towards a group of gathering shadows. We’re not alone, My Heart, she whispered to Jamie.

Jamie nodded. I know, he replied, aware of the sinister influence emanating from the shadowy group. It’s not unexpected, Dear One. We…

But so soon, My Heart? she interrupted.

The Evil One has made it plain enough, during our past encounters with him and his legions, he intends to target our soul— I feel we must prepare ourselves for the worst. Jamie sensed the maternal aspect rising in Vicky again, but knew she, like him, would stay focused— this first venture set to generate the means within them to take on others from Galactica Eternal.

Vicky stared towards the shadows, making out gloomy figures milling around a central one. I see the minions gather around their master.

Just as our legions gather around us, replied Jamie pointedly. Ignore them, Vicky, he continued. Let us focus on the progress of our soul’s incarnation. He paused gazing at her. I don’t want to discuss any untoward possibilities, but I sense the potential that we…

That our venture here will take us down into the dark realms, anticipated Vicky. Jamie nodded. I sense that too, My Heart, she continued. But I can’t help worrying for our young spirit.

Jamie shook his head. We have to focus on the physical concept that everyone starts at ground zero. I feel the Infinite One in His wisdom allows for the boundaries that exist between dedicated evil, and passively influenced evil, due to inherent situations.

Vicky looked back to the shadowy group of figures; one face materialising airing a hideous grin. In that moment she chastised herself for once again submitting to material feelings. From the story Simon had given them on his successful quest for redemption, there was no reason to generate doubts— such doubts would only play into to hands of, and benefit the dark entities. This new experience however, had defined differing levels of evil present in the dark realm. It was becoming clear to Vicky and Jamie from where, in the dark realm, the satanic ethnic cleansing and human experimentation issues arose. Deep within the Evil One’s kingdom spirits existed that had descended far beneath the level their kindred spirit Simon had sunk to. The minds of those souls now were keyed to the mind of the Evil One where redemption was no longer desired as an option.

Standing by the shadowy group, Vicky and Jamie sensed the power of the Infinite One enshroud them. That impenetrable aura was what they had earned, and what all virgin spirits needed to strive for as they voyaged across the physical planes. There was no response from the group in the shadows, but Jamie sensed that greedy eyes were transfixed on their young virgin spirit. Despite this, he felt confident in his and Vicky’s combined power, given them by the Infinite One. It would more than suffice for their needs: like the black disciples were bonded to the Evil One, they were bonded to the Infinite One.

Jamie again felt the presence of the Infinite One sanction his thoughts, and embraced and sensed Vicky’s aura with that feeling. Together, they would prove to be more than a match for these new entities that had suddenly come into view in the imperceptible conflict. If it fell to them to pursue their young soul into the dark realm, they would do everything they could to reclaim it. Accepting that, the final choice lay with their virgin spirit, they settled to their task as the young incarnate soul began it’s voyage to infinity on the Purlieusian physical plane.

    Arrival Purlieus

    ~1~

THE MOONLIGHT STREAMED IN across the bed from the window, as Theresa and Steven Lewis lay sleeping. Suddenly Theresa awoke in distress and sat up in bed clutching at the bump in her tummy. Letting out a cry of pain, she swung her legs out over the side of the bed as another spasm induced a louder cry from her.

Steve surfaced and gazed dozily out into the gloomy room— his mind confused with sleep. What’s up Rese? he mumbled, as the notion gradually edged into his mind that Theresa was in the final stages of her pregnancy. The thought induced panic in him, and sitting bolt upright in bed, he paused momentarily before leaping out of bed. Stumbling around the dim-lit room, his mind trying to rationalise what was happening to Theresa, she let out another cry of pain as her spasms began to increase.

She reached for him. Steve! Steve! she cried. it’s my time— I feel the baby’s coming.

Hang on! Hang on, Love, he uttered panic stricken— his mind in turmoil. Car! he exclaimed, racing around the foot of the bed, measuring his length on the floor as he tripped over the pre-packed suitcase ready to take to the hospital.

Hurry, Steve panted Theresa, otherwise you’ll have to deliver the baby!

The thought brought him out in a cold sweat, as he dragged himself up from the floor. Get… get into yer dressing gown love while I start the car, he muttered, grabbing the suitcase as he made for the door.

Theresa felt the spasms temporarily ease, but knew intuitively now this was her time, and that the pains would soon return with a vengeance. Meanwhile, Steve had hurled the case into the car’s boot, and gazed anxiously at Theresa appearing at the front door in slippers and dressing gown. Settling her into the car, he slammed the front door and raced back to the car— half falling into the driving seat.

With a wail of screeching tyres, they sped off to the hospital. Being in the small hours the roads were fortuitously clear, meeting just the occasional delivery van going about its business.

Steve fleeted a glance across at Theresa. You okay, Rese, he stuttered, narrowly missing a bollard in the middle of the road.

She nodded, wincing from another pain spasm. Keep yer eyes on the road, Duck, she muttered. We wanna get there in one piece, don’t we?

Her statement went straight over his head, as in the distance he had become focused on the glare of the lights from the hospital, they— easing the panic in him a little. He turned in through the hospital entrance and sped down the drive to the maternity unit, screeching to a halt outside. As luck would have it, a porter was sitting at his desk in the foyer and sensed the panic from Steve, as Theresa doubled up from another spasm.

The porter had seen it all before, and reaching for his phone, notified the labour ward before grabbing a wheelchair. Briskly, but calmly he settled Theresa into the chair, and beckoning Steve to follow, made for the lift. The midwife greeted them and straightaway took Theresa into a labour room. Now within the maternity unit, Steve came down to ground level— the panic settling in him more. He thanked the porter for his help and joined the midwife in the labour room.

The midwife smiled at the sweat glistening on Steve’s brow, reaching out to take his hand. You going to join us to witness the birth of your child? she asked.

He nodded, exhausted. I don’t wanna go through this again! he mumbled dramatically. The midwife grinned; the thought fleeting through her mind that anyone listening to him would think he was having the baby. He smiled concedingly, equating the thought tracking through her mind with her expression. Yes!… yes I know how it must appear… I’m a wimp! Theresa grinned before a more severe spasm wiped the smile off her face.

The midwife, having settled Theresa onto the delivery bed, turned to the doors as two men, dressed in green drapes, pushed in through them. Introducing themselves as the Obstetric Registrar and the Paediatrician, they got straight down to business and examined Theresa.

The Registrar stood back and gazed down at Theresa studiously for a moment. My dear, we may have to revise the birth of your baby. He smiled thoughtfully. So we’re going to move you to the theatre unit in case. His nonchalant description of the Caesarean Section procedure, should they have to resort to it, was unable to allay the fear in Theresa on the potential of surgery, and also renewed the panic in Steve.

The Registrar gazed at the apprehensive looks directed at him, shaking his head. Ooh! Don’t worry, it happens all the time here. Baby must come first, and it only takes a few moments should we need to resort to the surgical procedure. He gestured for the midwife to notify the Anaesthetist, and remove Theresa to the theatre unit. Taking Theresa’s hand he smiled. Now don’t worry, the Anaesthetist will probably suggest an epidural now that things have settled a bit. If complications arise, then we’ll have to give you a general anaesthetic.

Theresa nodded. As you say I seem to have settled a bit, said Theresa, a little concerned. Is that normal?

Nothing’s normal with child-birth, My Dear, but because of your regular contraction activity, we’re going to prepare for all options. He shook his head. With the baby’s position, and under epidural, I envisage a normal birth.

The Registrar’s statement relaxed Theresa and Steve a little, the thought of surgery less likely. Following the team into the theatre, Steve had been gowned up in a green drape and over shoes. The staff seated him next to Theresa, who was unable to resist commenting on his appearance— it serving to settle them both still more.

The Registrar’s cautionary measures proved unnecessary, as under the epidural Theresa’s and Steve’s baby was born safely. A bonny bouncy boy, approaching seven pounds, straight away made his presence felt by filling the theatre with his robust cries.

Theresa beamed a huge grin, surprised to see Steve still upright. I thought you’d be flaked out by now, she muttered, suddenly more relaxed.

Steve smiled sheepishly at her. It came close, Rese.

Now that the drama of childbirth was over, the full gravity of parenthood descended upon them. It was no longer a family of two, but three now, and came with all the inherent responsibilities that many around the world were neglecting.

    *

In the dimension beyond, Vicky and Jamie gazed down through the Celestial Window, sharing in Theresa’s and Steve’s celebration on the birth of their child. The journey of Vicky’s and Jamie’s virgin spirit had begun. The incarnate team, committed now, the focus fell on them— their endeavours subject, as ever, to free-will. Theresa and Steve were blissfully happy listening to their baby’s cries, but totally oblivious of the scrutiny being directed at them from the dark realm. There was little Vicky and Jamie could do now other than to wait. They had counselled their soul whom had pledged it’s allegiance to them and the Infinite One. But time now on the material plane was the governing factor, and offered precious little of it for their young soul to make that first important move towards the Infinite One. Vicky and Jamie gazed across their incarnate spirit’s Celestial Horizon— in the distance, the smudge they had made out earlier now seemed a little more dense.

Vicky stared up at Jamie. I constantly sense the feeling that our task this time will not be so straight forward, My Heart, she whispered.

    Jamie nodded
