I am fifty-three and a mother of soon-to-be nine children. I am a foster parent, along with my wonderful husband. I stay at home with my three cats and, right now, two foster children, two of whom we will be adopting shortly. Our home is out in the country; it is peaceful and beautiful. I love to read and write. I learned about my love for writing stories when I joined an online role play group, a place where I learned that I could write and that others really liked what I had to say. I found I enjoyed the stories I could tell through my writing. I have always loved Greek mythology as well as romance books. I branched out and created with a good friend our own site where we made up our own characters. I will continue to help those in need especially children. I am busy with appointments, but I always find a time to take for myself and write. My future goal is to be able to continue to write and be recognized for my writing and characters I create.

    Glossary

I would like to thank first my friends Caroline and Jo for helping me realize the passion I have for writing. If not for them this would still be just a dream. You guys rock. If it wasn’t for you guys and everyone I would never had even tried to write.

I would also like to thank my best friend Ramona who encouraged me to be the best I can be and to take chances. Most importantly I would love to give thanks for my Mother Judy Shafer for spending endless hours on the phone going over the drafts and helping me make it. I couldn’t do this without all your help Mom, I love you and am very blessed. Finally, I would like to thank my family for putting up with me writing and asking what they thought about this and that, I and I would also like to dedicate this book to my children who encouraged me and promising to read it. I love everyone who stood behind me. I hope you will enjoy my story because this is only the beginning.

    Preface

The images that Phobos has conjured in the mirror showed him the secret that he has kept hidden in the Mortal realm for almost two hundred years. Even though in the Human realm it had only been twenty-one years that had past. Here in the Immortal realm that little secret would be approximately two hundred years old, still pretty young by eternal standards. Time did not flow the same as it did in the Human realm.

Phobos sits smiling as he reaches back into his memories, to the time when he first met her. He had been living on Olympus, watching over the dreamers in the Mortal realm. It was what he did, he was after all a Dream God. His job was to monitor the humans’ dreams.

While he was playing in others’ dreams, he saw her. He swore his breathing stopped and his heart stilled. She was more beautiful than Helen of Troy; the famed woman, whose face was claimed to have launched a thousand ships. Her beauty made the God take notice.

Caliopie was a statuesque beauty with long, dark mahogany hair that reached to her waist. She kept it braided with gold ribbon weaved through it. Her eyes were a vivid violet with a ring of pale blue encircling the pupil. Her full bowed lips were plush and red. She had an hourglass figure that men always found sexy. Her curvy figure was an enticement to all of man and the Gods.

After he caught the first glimpse of her in the Dream realm, Phobos would often visit Caliopie in her dreams. It would soon be his destiny to become her dream lover. The great God Zeus also saw her as he looked over the humans as he decided what tricks he wanted to play on them. Zeus was determined to have the most beautiful women on Olympus and Earth for his own and he wanted the beautiful Caliopie. He was livid when he found out about the feelings between the two lovers.

Zeus demanded that Phobos cease entering the dreams of Caliopie immediately. Zeus was jealous and coveted Caliopie for his mortal lover. He would continuously visit her in the disguise of a bird or a small animal in the hopes of winning her trust and love, but no matter how hard Zeus tried, she would only pledge her love to her dream lover. Even though she did not know his name, she would never forget his face or his touch.

Throughout the years, many men tried to win her affections, but she always politely turned them away. Zeus, being a crafty God, thought he could win her hand by becoming the spitting image of Phobos. He courted her, but alas she turned even him away. She knew that even though he looked like her love, it was not him. She couldn’t fight the feeling this handsome man was not him. There was something wrong, indeed. It was his aura, something her true love used to show to her every time they were together. The mans’ aura that had appeared before to her was tinged black with a silver-lining. Yes, even though he looked like Phobos, she just knew that it wasn’t him. Phobos’ aura was a light blue with a gold lining.

Unknown to both of the Gods, Caliopie was a demigod and had a few powers of her own. One of them being the ability to hide her presence from everyone. She could also mask her powers and shift her image to that of a Human so even the gods would not know she was a demigod. So to all whom she met, they thought she was indeed a Human.

It was during Phobos’ search for her that he came across one of the Oracles. The Oracle Delphi foretold this to him. Once finding his one true love and having a child with said love… that would be the catalyst that would break the curse, a curse that would be placed upon him, it would be at that time and only then, when all of his memories and powers would be restored to him once again. This child would have extraordinary powers; even more than the great God Zeus himself. She would become an influential leader of the dream Gods. She would also become the first Dream Goddess and would be in great danger of others wanting her powers. When he asked the Oracle, How could this be I still remember her? She answers him by telling him his true love is not what she seems. She goes on to say that the future will continue to hold many mysteries of which he will have no control. Phobos leaves the cave of the Oracle, confused and dazed by the information, swearing he would never forget his love for Caliopie.

On Olympus, Zeus changes his appearance into a carbon copy of Phobos once again, and visits the fair Caliopie in the attempt to win her affection once and for all. Caliopie still sensed that this person who looked like her dream lover was not him. Yes, he looked like him, but there was something off about him. She politely rejected him, as she has with the countless others seeking her favor. Zeus returns to Olympus in a rage, not used to being denied. Using his powers, he locates where Phobos has gone, deciding he was going to end this love affair once and for all.

Zeus visits Phobos in the Human realm, angry upon finding out that he is searching for Caliopie. In a fit of rage, he takes all of Phobos’s memories, along with his powers. Phobos is now mortal.

There is a consistent feeling in his head telling him he must push on. He feels something is missing, and he must find it. He walks around looking for that missing something, but without his memories he does not know who he is, what he is, or what he is searching for. It is during his travels that he comes upon a small village, nestled near the bottom of a mountain, where small cottages dotted the countryside.

He comes upon a marketplace that is bustling with activity. On the far right side of the market is a small dirt road leading to one lone cottage standing away from all of the others. It is in that little cottage where Caliopie lives alone with a baby. She was shunned by all the males in the village because she had turned away all of the men who have come to seek her affection.

Unknown to Phobos during his last visit with Caliopie, he had not only given her his heart, but also a surprise. She had become pregnant with an infant daughter. The infant has her mother’s eyes and father’s facial features.

There was something calling to him. Stay at this village! Something begged him to stay, something that gave him a peace of mind he had not felt in a long time.

One day Phobos was at the market in the village purchasing some loaves of bread, when he felt a familiar presence. He saw a beautiful woman holding a small infant. He tried to shake the sensation that
