As I Sit and Think - Dwight Goins

    A MILLION AND ONE THANK-YOUS

For the times you spanked me early.

    I thank you

For the times you spoke to me about wild shirly.

    I thank you

You taught me how to fish, swim and to survive.

    I thank you

Without your wisdom I might not be alive.

    I thank you

You have made me strong, so I’m sorry for people that might take me for weak.

    I thank you

For I have been strengthened by a great teach.

    I thank you

So don’t ever doubt yourself of failing me, that you can never be accused.

For I can go on and on, with a million and one Thank You’s.

    NOT TO OLD TO PLAY

As days grow long and people grow older.

We do things we don’t suppose to.

Staying out late and acting wild.

Knowing our bodies are crying out loud.

Bags under the eyes, and hair all gray, still trying to hang and play.

If common sense don’t stop us before our bodies will.

Pray for greener pastures amongst the hills.

If we are spared and get to spend more time with the family in which we have strayed.

Maybe this would be the right time to stop and meditate on believing, we are not to old to play.

    NO MATTER WHAT THEIR RACE

After finishing up my training in Uncle Sam’s army

I was as fit as a fiddle and felt no one could harm me.

Boarding a plane and heading to North Korea I was on a mission of protection go figure. A soldier trained to protect other countries, not my own. We were trained not to ask questions just do your job even though sometimes it seemed wrong.

As the Koreans jumped as they saw us, waving with the smiles on their face.

I felt like it was our duty to help people know matter what their race…

    LIFE’S TRAGEDIES

As one year ends and another begins.

We think out loud here we go again.

A different face but the same results.

No matter who we vote in, they turn out to be nutts.

    Jobs ending crimes rising higher.

Who’s in charge? Nothing but a liar.

You take the punches and try not to become a casualty.

Like events before, this is another one of Life’s Tragedies.

    RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT GO

Another new year has come and the old has gone away.

Some memories of my past makes me cherish the new days.

Life wasn’t always pretty and like a bowl of cherries.

You had your good times and your bad times, but always tried not to worry.

This is a new year and you want to hit it in strive.

Hold your head up and thank God your still alive.

U hold the key to your future that only you will know.

Step strong up to the curb. Its red light green light, Go.

    TWIN TOWERS

Standing tall one behind the other.

Little did we know what we were about to discover.

As the years passed, it was like a seed amidst the grass.

You knocked us down but failed to see.

The hearts that beat with-in that were as deep-n-wide as the greatest sea.

    Now as
