I n this story, Sara Blake is a young woman, who is very intelligent with a good sense of rhythm, well balanced and has great inner strength. By the time Sara was twenty-five; she had been married and divorced. Her marriage could have been everlasting, but could not stand up under her insecure and selfish nature. The divorce left Sara with a very bitter attitude.

As a child she dreamed of marrying and having a family, but when the marriage ended in divorce, instead of seeking counsel, she entered into a cycle of indiscretion faulty choices and folly. Sara was suffering from a lack of perception to the point where she might have become emotionally or mentally ill. After realizing this, Sara decided that her only defense against becoming ill was to leave the area and start all over again. At that time Sara was employed as a record clerk, in the record section of a local Hospital. She had a friend whose name was Jessica, who had come to work at the hospital from another state. Sara often talked to Jessica about her problems and about her decision to leave the state and start all over again. Jessica had heard that there was going to be a cut back in employees at the hospital soon and that the cut back would include medical record personnel. The three people working in medical records at this time are Jessica, Sara and Mrs. Davis a medical records supervisor. Sara had more seniority on the job than Jessica. Therefore, Jessica was almost sure that when the cut back came, she would be the person laid off. Jessica was glade to hear that Sara wanted to leave the area and was very concerned when Sara talked about leaving.

One day when Sara and Jessica were talking, Jessica asked if she were still thinking about leaving the area. Yes, I am said Sara, but I’m not sure where I want to go. I think that I have saved enough money to last at least until I find another job, once I leave. My car is paid for and I don’t have any outstanding bills to pay. The way I see it said Sara, all that is left for me to do, is to decide where I want to live. Although Sara talked about leaving, she had a fear of travel and failure that caused her indecisiveness.

Jessica noticed that Sara was becoming impatient and restless. She feared that Sara might change her mind and decide not to leave. Then Jessica said, I have a friend who lives in New Jersey who owns a three bedroom house. No one lives there with her and she is a very nice person. Maybe she would be interested in having a roommate for a while? Do you think that you would be interested in moving to New Jersey. Asked Jessica. I don’t know said Sara; tell me a little more about New Jersey.

"Well said Jessica, it’s a nice place to live. I left because I was having problems with my parents. They were up set because of Richard, the guy that I’m living with here.

They didn’t seem to like him or the fact that I was pregnant with his child and was not married to him. I tried to explain, to them that I did not want to get married yet. However, they insisted that it was Richard’s fault that we were not getting married before our child was born.

My parents wanted us to get married and raise our child in New Jersey. My family is in the construction business. Richard is an architect and he’s very good at what he does. He wants to start his own business but my father wanted him to work with the family business. Richard refused. So, my father used his influence around town to see that Richard didn’t find a job anywhere else. When I found out about what my father was doing, Richard and I decided to take our child and leave the state. Now Richard works for the government. Our son is in school and we get along well together. I often write home to New Jersey and mom and dad has apologized for their actions but I know that my father is a powerful man in the town where we lived and I don’t think that he would stop until he got Richard and I working for his company. He likes controlling people and has tried several times to control my life but my father must understand that I have to make my own decisions and live my own life, it’s the only way that I’m ever going to be happy. On the other hand, if you wanted to try living in New Jersey, I could contact my friend who owns the house and see if she could rent one of her room to you said Jessica. I can also write a letter to my father to see if he can give you a job working in his office for a while until you are settled. At least you will be going to a state where somebody knows you and you’ll have a job and a place to stay when you get there, said Jessica.

Sounds good to me said Sara; let me think about it for a few days, and then I’ll let you know when to call your friend in New Jersey.

"Okay, said Jessica, I owe her a return phone call anyway, so I’ll probably call her tonight, just to say hello. That night Sara was restless, she could hardly sleep thinking about her situation.

She had a natural sense of progression towards success, but she cling to outworn associates, pride, and self-interest, bound to the material rather than the spiritual.

She thought of how she had entered into a marital bond for the wrong reasons. Her marriage was based on an over indulgence in self and without a change in life style, it ended as it began and a quick fixed divorce was the results.

For three days, she thought of how her divorce caused her to hurt to the point where she could not stabilize her emotions and she didn’t want to become a dead ringer for a bad choice in mates in a new relationship. So, that night before she went to sleep, she decided to take advantage of the offer that Jessica had made her and planned to live in New Jersey. When Sara came to work the next day, she told Jessica that she had decided to move to New Jersey.

Jessica seem happy for her but Jessica’s happiness wasn’t just for Sara deciding to leave the area she was happy because with Sara gone, she would be able to keep her job.

Okay said Jessica, when do you plan to leave.

I should be ready in about two weeks, said Sara. This will give me enough time to make all the necessary arrangements. Good said Jessica, and then I will call my friend Maria and let her know when to expect you.

Okay said Sara, two weeks from today will be the fifteenth. I’ll be ready to leave on the fifteenth.

Okay said Jessica, I will call Maria and let her know. When Jessica got off work that evening, she and Sara went to her apartment. They called Maria, Jessica’s friend in New Jersey. While talking, Jessica told her friend about Sara wanting to come to live in New Jersey and rent a room from her.

"Oh, that would be great said Maria. I would love to have some one living here with me, it get so quiet and lonely around here at times with me living here in this big house by myself.

"One while, I was thinking of selling my house and renting an apartment because this is just too much house for one person.

"Hold on said Jessica, I’ll let you speak to Sara. Sara took the phone and said.

"Hello, my name is Sara Blake I’m the person wanting to come to New Jersey and live. How, are you said Sara.

Oh just fine said Maria, Jessica was telling me that you might be willing to rent me one of your rooms inside your home for a while, if I moved to New Jersey said Sara.

Well I really wasn’t advertising a room for rent per say but I do have a big house and lots of extra room so I will let you rent one of my rooms said Maria.

Good said Sara, I am an independent person and I will probably move to an apartment of my own as soon as I find a job.

When I was looking in the newspaper yesterday, I saw an ad for two clerks needed. And I think it was at Jessica’s father construction company here in New Jersey. I just thought of it when you mentioned a job. I didn’t think to mention it to Jessica when we were talking. Maybe Jessica could assist you in making arrangements for an interview at her father’s office when you get to New Jersey, said Maria. Jessica is going to be surprised when she hears about a job opening at her father’s office. In fact, we had been discussing the possibility of me getting a job at her father’s office yesterday, said Sara.

"Sounds to me like you’re getting off to a good start said Maria.

"How much are you going to charge me for the room? Sara asked.

"Well Jessica and I are like sisters. We always shared everything together and any friend of Jessica is a friend of mine also.

"So why don’t you just come on up to New Jersey, see how you like it here, then if you still want to live here we will figure out a utility bill that you can pay or something.

I promise you that you will be able to afford it said Maria as she grinned. That’s great said Sara. I will be driving up on the fifteenth, so I should Get to your place sometimes during the day on Saturday the seventeenth.

"Good said Maria. I will be looking forward to seeing you.

"Oh, by the way, if you change your mind or if something comes up. Keep me informed.

"Oh, definitely, said Sara, I’m going to give you a call when I’m on my way.

"Okay, said Maria. It has been nice talking to you. Is Jessica still there?

"Yes, she’s in her kitchen, I’ll get her for you said Sara. Jessica and Maria chatted for a few minutes, and then they said good-bye and hung up their phones.

After Jessica had hung up the phone Sara said, think you so much you are making my trip seem like a vacation, everything seems so easy. Wait a minute said Jessica, I am not finished yet. I’m going to call my mother and ask her to help convince my father to give you a job working in his office as a clerk.

Maria said that you sound like a very nice person, and I told her that you were, so she’s really looking forward to meeting you in person said Jessica. Then Jessica called her mother and told her mother that Sara wanted to move to New Jersey and asked her mother if she would talk to her father about hiring Sara to work in his office. Jessica’s mother said that she would ask him at breakfast in the morning and give her a call back that evening to et her know what he said.

"How are you and my grandson getting along? Her mother asked.

    "Just fine, said Jessica.

"Are you and Richard still together?

"Of course we’re still together mom, and the three of us are getting along just fine, said Jessica.

Okay mom, I’ll talk to you when you call me back to let me know what dad said about Sara working in his office. I have to hang up now. Goodbye, said Jessica and she hung up the phone.

My parents make me so angry. They do not like the idea of Richard and I living together.

Richard wants us to get married but I don’t. We can’t afford the kind of wedding that I want to have.

In a year, we will have all our bills paid up and the cars will be paid off. Then I am going to marry Richard regardless of what my parents say. They are going to have to except the fact that Richard is my husband and the father of my child said Jessica. I am sorry to bother you with my problem. But I had to tell someone, I am tired of holding it in, I’m beginning to get all bottled up inside and that’s not good, Jessica said.

"Oh, that’s okay, sharing problems is one of the things that friends do, and if you ask me. I think that you are absolutely right about the way you feel. like it or lump it.

Your parents are going to have to except the fact that Richard is your son’s father and when you two get married he’ll be your husband, and their son-in-law and I want to be in your wedding.

Jessica gave Sara a big hug and said. "Thanks. You made my evening it is good to know that someone is on my side. Then Jessica looked at her watch and said, ‘Oh my God, I had better get home, I know Richard and Richard Jr. is wondering where I am. I have got to go home Jessica said as she walked towards the door, I’ll see you tomorrow at work.

    "Goodbye,’ said Sara as she
