Sexuality in Bible
SEX IS A HOLISTIC energy that correlates with the whole human being at all levels including mental, emotional, behavioral and physical levels. So this sexual energy plays a vital role all through the person’s life beginning from childhood till old age.
Therefore, since the beginning of creation man has given much consideration to sexuality as an important part of his / her life, and through the different decades man’s interest in sexuality differed according to the cultures, religions and philosophies that prevailed in each era of history and that influenced human thinking and behaviors about sexuality. Therefore different ideas about sexuality and its role in human life had come out in such a way that sex
has become controversial.
God has created man as a sexual being in order to insert love into the human life, so man can be able to get out of the solitude and to get rid of selfishness through opening up to the others and forming a family in which all the purpose of love, unity, sharing and giving are manifested. That was not possible without God’s presence in the human life so as love and unity among people become a refection of the love and unity within the Trinity. But no sooner did man refuse, with all his free will, to live with God and to obey Him, than he lost the true communication with God in such a way that ego
, instead of God, became the center of man’s life in such a way that his / her mind, emotions and attitudes became inclined towards him / herself
in a trial to satisfy his endless selfish needs. As long as man became egocentric his / her sexuality became deviated from love toward selfishness, that’s from giving to and sharing with the other
to using and consuming the other
, and instead of looking at the other
as a valuable person he started to deal with him / her
as an object, or as a physical entity.
Since the sexual energy is closely related to the entire personality of the individual, so it is expected that the time that energy deviates away from its genuine goal the whole man’s aspects of life will be negatively affected. So when sexuality is devoid of love it is disfigured and directed more to gratification of lusts and selfish desires. Consequently the human body, instead of being a helping factor in making the love unity between man and woman, it turned out to be a mere source of pleasure that became a target in itself to be sought eagerly.
Through this book we’re going to follow together sexuality since the beginning of creation, then how it was changed and disfigured after the Fall, and how it has been redeemed and renewed through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and how we can nowadays live our sexuality as a part of our whole human practical Christian life.

CHAPTER 1
Sexuality: fundamental issues
Dimensions of human sexuality
HUMAN SEXUALITY IS A divine gift which pervades the inner core of man and affects his / her life at all levels. It affects not only one aspect of our life, but also it is part and parcel of our human nature and it leaves its imprint on the existence and personality of the whole individual. It shapes our emotional and psychological lives, our social relations, as well as our spiritual life including our relation-ship with God. As a matter of fact, sexuality is both a comprehensive and pervasive energy.
There are at least three principal dimensions to human sexuality:
1. The Personal Dimension:
This comprises the personal interaction between the two genders resulting from mutual affinity and rational choice, an interaction that expresses itself through the medium of human emotions (feelings), leading to the development of
